I am thinking of getting one and want reviews or opinions.

This link isn't the cheapest...fyi...it was just a great view.
    TIA

I don't have one, but I'm putting a wok one on my gift registry. My mom has the red electric one, I want to be able to work at the stove. Cast Iron may be too heavy though now that I think about it. I guess I'll have to shop around, see what I like. I do want control over it, the electric is out!

Wouldn't a cast iron wok be quite heavy? Mine is just a plain ol' inexpensive wok I bought in chinatown ages ago, and it works fine. I also have an electric one but I hardly ever use it. It's covered in dust right now icon_smile.gif

I don't like electric woks at all. They just don't seem to get hot enough and you don't have enough control over them.
I have never seen a cast iron wok used in any Chinese restaurant or Chinese household. I love cast iron frying pans but I think a wok should be a proper Chinese one. Once seasoned they work just as well or probably better than a cast iron wok would. Just my opinion.

agrred about hte cast iron...don't htink these are "popular" for chinese cooking however...IF you are looking for anything, you usually can find them (and cheaper) on
    www.ubid.com
    or
    www.ebay.com

I get alot of cooking items from both of these places

personally I prefer the flat bottom (large) non-stick wok...
cooking.com has one for about $54.

This morning in my lonely Motel room I watched a cooking show and they used a cast Iron wok - it looked like it was built in to fit the stove. I love my electric wok - it takes patience to wait until it is hot enough!
