    To go with dinner tonight I made Caramelized Onion Sourdough Biscuits from KAF and it was differant but pretty good. I liked the sweet of the carmilized onions with the tang of the sourdough.

    Oh thank you; I'm pretty proud of them - very differant from what I usually do - now just hope DH likes them and doesn't think they are to sweet for him

    Getting closer to the Holidays, anyone trying something a little differant? Me, I'm just thrilled I finally found some unbleached all purpose flour, big score for me. Now I've got to decide what I'll make with it.

    WOW! The guys are sure busy with cinnamon rolls, and I'd like a taste of both of them. I need to make some of those for us real soon.

    A few days late here (I've been remodeling our master bathroom), but Sunday I made English muffins for breakfast, and converted them into egg McMuffins for me and the wife. I just checked my records, and I haven't made these since the end of July when I made them with 50/50 white/wheat flour. These are just white bread flour.

    BRAG TIME, Another Christmas Concert done, and some baking to go with it.

    9 dozen Shortbread with Cherries
    9 dozen Shortbread without Cherries
    20 dozen GingerSnap Cookies
    Pumpkin Bread, equal to 8 loaves, I just baked it in a Hotel Pan instead.
    Date Squares equal to 4 batches
    135 ButterTart, purchased tart shells, but homemade filling
    105 Lemon Tarts, purchased tart shells and Powdered lemon Pie Filling
    All my baking on trays and ready to go. I also purchased 2 flats Nanaimo Bars (48 bars each flat), and 6-5 lb cases Mandarin Oranges.

    Then at home I made 2 batches Snickerdoodles.

    And that is just the start of my baking adventures. I have 3/4 classes confirmed for baking on Friday, Monday and Thursday. Two classes are making Gingerbread and One class Sugar Cookies. I also make Candy Cane Cookies with all the kids for our Craft Afternoons, I will only make 6 with each child

    Joe that egg McMuffin is calling my name - I love the homemade ones, specially with fresh made muffins. The photo really looks great.

    OMG tasb -HOW do you do all that, amazing. I sure hope that school appreciates you was any of all that bounty left over??? I'm having trouble even getting started with some of my cookies this year. I need you to come over and kick start me. icon_wink.gif

    There was hardly anything left on the trays. about 1 dozen shortbread, some pumpkin bread, some date squares, a few butter tarts. Also a pan of 35 Buttertarts untouched, 1/2 flat Nanimo Bars. No Lemon Tart, No Gingersnaps. I gave most of those to a co-worker to deliver to families in need. Not that many of them will need any more.

    A bit of bashing, but so many people walked out with armloads of goodies, not really exaggerating. One who we know is going to load up on anything she can get her hands on was trying to get bigger plates from me, but I said we had none, but I gave her a freezer bag, before realizing I am going to have lots of others begging me for them, and I need them for the cookies the classes will be baking this next week. I seen her walking out with one of the mandarin orange boxes stuffed full. Her daughter had 2 boxes stuffed full. I lost count on how many plates I wrapped with plastic wrap. The really sad part is me and the janitor were finding baked goods stuffed in strange places, she even found plates loaded up sitting on the chairs, people didn't even take them home. But the ones that did take them home are eating them. One kid brought back a bag full of cookies and was trying to eat them for breakfast. The kids that did eat breakfast ate 2-3 bowls of cereal. I guess their bodies were trying to normalize their blood sugar. Some were almost comatose, coming down from a sugar high.

    This is a normal thing around here, all community get-together are always catered, and everyone just grabs food and runs. NO potlucks. Even if you advertise a potluck everyone will show up with nothing. Some kids and even parents will take platefuls and throw them out. The sad thing is I have all leftovers from our Food Program delivered to families, but they wouldn't take fresh baby carrots when they were offered them. They only want ready to eat meals. I see a difference in the kids that receive this food, but that refusal for fresh veg really did hurt me. I for the first time felt like I was enabling parents with drug/alcohol problems to keep using and we will provide food because they won't. I almost gave up, but I look at the kids and tell myself I can't let any of them go hungry. I refuse to know the names of the ones that get our food, as I don't want my heart to break.

    Joe, lovely cake - I don't make many bundt cakes but have purchased a couple of really pretty pans that I do love to use. Of course they are all at my home in WA so none here. But I did bake Buttermilk Cupcakes (Chocolate) yesterday and they were soooo good. I'm not much of a baker and struggle with decorating - but the taste was perfect from the cake to the frosting.

    tasab, that is just astonishing - I cannot believe people do not contribute to a potluck or that they expect ready to eat meals. We do regular food drives at my church and special ones for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and they are delivered about two weeks early - not ready to eat! Honestly Bless you for putting up with it!

    Tasb, that is very frustrating. My experience is whenever something is free ppl tend to abuse it.
