Computer geeks, any out there? My laptop is plugged in constantly, but I am getting a message that says I need a new battery. Why, if it is plugged in all the time, and rarely use the battery?

The power cord may be broken. The power connection within the computer may have become loosened and not delivering the power. The battery may be dead (least likely unless your laptop is really old).
I've had the first two happen and have the same problem with my netbook right now - need to take it to the shop to be checked out.

Well, in computer terms it may be old. 3 years. I wonder if a new cord would solve the problem. Cheaper than a new battery! Thanks!

Oh Pammy, afraid I can't help - hope someone else can, I do know the first thing I always check is that all the plugs, computer connections AND wall are in tight and fully connected.

Batteries are very expensive - last time the computer place was able to figure out it as the cord, no charge for diagnosis, and the cord was about 20 bucks online.

I made my Sourdough Popovers from King Arthur Flour and while they arn't as pretty as if I'd had my favorite popover pan, they were oh so good with a great texture and slightly sourdough flavor and not a one was left.

For dinner tonight I made Savory Bread Pudding Cupcakes enjoyed the flavors but the texture really threw me off, I should have known that as I've never even tasted regular bread pudding as the thought of soggy bread just throws me off. But thought I'd give it a try. Like I said, the flavors where good, but that texture is just not for me, even though DH liked it (or at least he told me he did)

Pammy, my guess is you need a new battery. If the cord was bad it would be operating on the battery power and would run down and then you wouldn't have any power to the laptop. Your computer has sensed your battery is toast and is telling you that.
For what it's worth, 3 years for a battery is a long time. On my first laptop I figured I would keep it plugged in most of the time to conserve the battery. Nopers, that didn't work and it went bad after a couple of years. I have read that the battery actually benefits from the discharge/recharge cycle and the way to get the most out of it is to run it on the battery until it's just about discharged and then charge it up. You wouldn't have to do that everyday but once in a while, I try to do that at least once a week.

Great looking braided loaves JoeV.
Bonnie, those bread pudding cupcakes should be delivered to me!
Red, you and I had the same idea. I made cinnamon rolls for the very first time today. I made mine with whole wheat pastry flour and some raisins and toasted walnuts. I'll make the icing for it tomorrow.

Looks like some really good baking going on here, love all the photos. I need to make some cinnamon rolls, they are one of my favorite things and haven't made them in a long time.

Great looking rolls! I got a present from a young woman I work with - Assyrian baklava. It was a tray with the baklava in small pieces, six different shapes and with some different ingredients - mainly pistachios. I have made baklava, but don't really have the patience to do it again

I just went to a cooking class over here where they showed us how to make it; a LOT of work to me but oh so good. It was an Indian chef, teaching me and mostly Trini's how to make baklava; strange but so much fun and I think I could do it but the stuff is just a little to sweet for me.
