_________
Welcome to "Zaar Stars" Recipe Tag Game. This is a game where your most popular recipes (those with 5 or more reviews) are the true "stars" of Food.com (formerly Recipezaar). In order to play, you must have a
minimum of
10 recipes posted which have
5 or more reviews on them. This will give players a good selection of recipes to tag when your "stars" are in play. It is helpful, although certainly not required, to make a cookbook with all of your recipes listed with 5 or more reviews. This will make it easier for players to find your qualifying recipes quickly. This is especially helpful when you have a lot of recipes posted.
If you don't have enough reviews on your recipes to join this game, it is suggested that you start out by playing
Newest Zaar Tag, which is a great way to build up your review count. Another option is to play
Please Review my Recipe Tag, which allows you to request reviews of specific recipes. The links for these games can be found here:

How to Play Zaar Stars:
[1] Go to the end of the thread and select a recipe (that YOU have not previously reviewed) from the current player's recipe collection that has received 5 or more reviews at the time you select the recipe.
[2] Post a reply declaring which recipe you are preparing. Please include the Chef's name, link to the recipe, and recipe number when posting your reply. The next player to tag will then select one of your "stars" and so on.
[3] Prepare the recipe you tagged and post your review within 2 weeks.
[4] Come back to this thread and post a message reporting that you have
made and reviewed the recipe. Be sure to mention the Due Date (if you don't remember, you can get it from the list of current "Tagged" recipes on page 1 of this thread). Any photos or comments you'd like to make can also be posted at this time.
Other Things You Need to Know:
[1] You have 2 weeks to make and review each tagged recipe. If you find you cannot meet that deadline, post a request for an extension (an additional 2 weeks). Only one extension will be granted per recipe, and extensions should be requested
before the tag is due when at all possible. You will have a total of 28 days to complete your tag. If you do not make the recipe by that date, you will be placed on the RESTRICTED list. Restricted players are still obligated to make the recipe, but they can't tag anything new until they have made and reviewed the overdue recipe.
*NOTE (effective as of Aug. 24, 2007): Anyone who is Restricted in a game will not be allowed to play in any game in the Game Room until ALL outstanding tags are completed. Please see this letter from the Forum Hosts **Important Information Regarding Deliquent Tags**
[2] If you tag a recipe and then later realize that you just won't be able to make it at all - either because you are having significant ingredient issues or just don't have time for that particular recipe or for any other reason, please select a different recipe from the same person's recipe list that you originally tagged - it still must be a "Zaar Stars" recipe. Then post a reply to this thread asking for a substitution, and please supply a link to the new recipe.
[3] If you miss a deadline and DON'T choose to extend or substitute, then at two weeks past your due date you will receive a warning by zmail and after one more week, your name goes onto the RESTRICTED list. You can always get off the list and re-join the game by completing your old tags.
Please keep in mind: When you ask for an extension, the extension is granted
2 weeks from the original due date, NOT from the date you request it. If you have a special circumstance, please zmail me and I will make whatever arrangements I can for you.
[4]
IMPORTANT: In playing this game, you are implicitly agreeing to accept the necessity of a re-tag if you make a mistake and tag a recipe that is not eligible,
or if you tag a recipe and then find you can't make it for any reason,
or if you tag the wrong chef. For example: if by mistake you choose a recipe that does not have 5 or more reviews, you agree to go ahead and choose another recipe by the same chef to replace the tag that is invalid. Another example: if you choose a recipe by Chef A when Chef B was the one who was currently due to be tagged, you agree to go back and choose a recipe by Chef B to replace your tag of Chef A. This keeps the game from coming to a halt while people wait to see what happens. In addition, if the mistake is not caught before follow-up tags occur, the re-tag rule helps avoid a snarl where a string of people could find their tags invalidated because 1 person drops the ball in the middle of the process.
Exception: If you make a goof in your tag but correct or withdraw it before anybody else follows up by tagging you, then your tag is simply ignored and does not count as a mistag. Be aware, however, that other players are not required to wait around and see whether you're going to do this. If, at any time, you haven't withdrawn, they can go ahead and tag you, because they know you have implicitly agreed to re-tag. So:
B mistags A---> C tags B---> C is It , B must re-tag to correct mistag
B mistags A ---> mistake is discovered before new tag ---> A is still It, B need not re-tag
[5] Participants agree
not to pressure or intimidate reviewers into changing their review ratings the point of the games in this forum is to try new recipes, and participants should not need to worry about submitting star ratings that truly reflect their opinion of the recipe, especially when a rating is 1, 2 or 3 stars.
[6] To make recordkeeping easier,
please use the following formats for posting your tags and reviews:
Posting tags
Tagging recipe #xxxxx, #xxxxx by (chef's name).
Posting reviews
I have made and reviewed (chef's name) recipe #xxxxx, #xxxxx (due date).
[7]
**NEW RULE**
24 HOUR RULE:
If a player is IT for 24 hours, ANY of their recipes may be tagged (including those that have less that 5 reviews). This 24 rule should help keep the game moving during those times when tagging is slow. Before tagging a recipe with less than 5 reviews, please
be sure that the player has been IT for at least 24 hours to avoid a mistag.
If you have any questions or need help, please post your question to this thread or zmail me. The point of the game is to HAVE FUN!!
