Yo, Liza! IMHO, you denigrate the contest and you call into question the integrity of the review/rating procedure on the site.

BOBBIE's sock-puppetry should have had her put in the corner for time-out immediately. The fact that you didn't jerk a knot in her tail reflects poorly on you.

Susie, just a personal aside. These people have no integrity.

    I was wondering that myself.

You've got to be kidding me! I have to go through two more weeks of this sham? My usual routine is to read the recipe reviews every morning with my cup of coffee. All I've seen lately was a takeover from impostors posing as members. I've been here since 2005 and I resent the intrusion of people who don't give a flip about our community.

I'm with you on this one Deely . . . I too have been here since 2005 and have seen the changes in this site. Did a little research of those 'impostors' and am disgusted with how low people will go to win! Many of the impostors joined during the last contest (Simply Potatoes) and have only reviewed one contestants recipes . . . BOTH TIMES! It's one thing to promote to your friends and relatives . . . but 111! Food.com is shooting themselves in the foot by allowing this to go on . . . the word is out about the sham!

If one thinks from a marketing perspective, it is likely that the goal of these contests to create buzz about Food.com and to add more members which means more attention to their advertisers. There are many food-related sites out there and if a contest sparks interest in Food.com and prompts contestents and many of their foodie friends to join, it appears that is good business.

Oh, we're well aware of that . . .that's exactly how RecipeZaar got so big and worth millions! I NEVER purchase anything from advertisers that are obnoxious, such as NETFLICKS . . .that type of advertising can backfire on them. What I'm saying is these new members are fictitious, therefore won't buy anything.

I've already requested that this thread not be used as the place to bash the contest and that is exactly what you are all doing. Please don't post again in here in that vein. You are being disruptive and hijacking the purpose of this thread...to help users who are actually participating in the contest. If you need to start a new thread, go for it. If you post here again with this type of message, i will give you 1 warning and make you re-acknowledge the forum rules. If you post again after that, I will take away your forum privileges.

Oh, I see. So the assumption is that some of the reviewers are not real people, but just created email addresses so there could be more votes/reviews? Not sure how one could prove that someone who just joined to support a friend/fellow-foodie is different from a made-up account? Or maybe there is a way? It sounds like you alerted the judges?

    Liza -
Didn't see your post before replying to GW above. As a newbie, I'm just trying to get my head around how this works. Sorry that you have to take on that role. Overall, this is a great opportunity to see some good recipes and some "interesting" recipes. icon_wink.gif
