It sent the email three times, but each time, the message at the bottom was that it didn't send. You need to fix this.

When sending email the CAPTCHA doesn't always appear on the page and it is becoming very frustrating...

Just signed on with a new account, and attempted to e-mail a recipe. Due to difficulty reading multiple CAPTCHA words, never sent the e-mail. Very frustrating. Am unlikely to use food.com again.

Catcha was added when emailing a recipe for security reasons. We got wind that another site that has an email a link tool got a spammer who signed up for the site and then abused the heck out of it. Spamming folks left and right through the website and then your emails get blacklisted and it's just a nightmare. It's just a precautionary measure. I know it's annoying, but we're trying to cut off any possible abusers after hearing about it happen elsewhere.

However, we are aware the Captcha can be a little hard to read and have requested the feature be more legible. In the interim, there is an option there for you to get a new word. To the right of the box where you type the words are three little icons. The top one is of two arrows making a circle. Click it to Get a New Challenge aka new words. The second is a picture of a megaphone to Get an Audio Challenge. And the circle with the question mark is for Help.

We also know it's hard to tell when the email has been sent because the page just refreshes, kind of implying you need to submit again. But, underneath the captcha in bold it will advise when it has been sent. It will say, Your message was successfully sent. You may go back to the page you were on or you may send e-mail to another friend(s). This has also been reported to be more apparent. If you get this message and your friend is still not receiving, have them check their SPAM/JUNK folder.

I am having the same problem with the Captcha on this site. I have tried at least 15 times on several different days and wasn't able to send once! I give up!

So sorry to hear you continue to have trouble. I will be happy to email you the recipe if you tell me which one you are interested in or you can copy and paste the URL in an email if you are wishing to send to a friend.

I have tried multiple times to email a recipe and cannot. My vision is fine so I know that I am entering the words right. Very frustrating. I will have to obtain recipes elsewhere.

Oh-I tried 10 DIFFERENT words-all equally impossible! Many other sites have the CAPTCHA but they are readable, including my own email provider so it's not impossible. I challenge anyone to read either of those shown below!!!!

icon_sad.gif I've tried 8 times to email a recipe and with CAPTCHA says I'm not typing it correctly but I actually am. I probably won't come back to this website as I find this very frustrating. I totally understand why you have it but make it work properly so people can ENJOY this website.

There are many other options for security - CAPTCHA MUST GO - IT'S HORRIBLE! I simply can't read them or I have to try at LEAST a dozen times before I can.
