I am allergic to corn, try going anywhere for anything these days and there is some form of corn in it. I want to bake a Dark Chocolate cake and all the recipes I find call for baking powder which of course has corn starch.
I am wondering what I can substitute for baking powder. I thought about baking soda but the recipes I found already call for that.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You'll probably want to watch out for confectioners' sugar, too. It's sometimes cut with cornstarch.
Take a look at these and see if they'll work for you:
Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
Devil's Food Cake
Chocolate Buttercream Cake (Ina Garten)
Sour Cream Fudge Cake
