I am wanting to grow some basil to use in Italian dishes (mainly a really delicious margherita pizza icon_biggrin.gif ) and I have found out that there are actually many types of basil. I don't know anything about these different types and want just a "basic" basil, would this be sweet basil or perhaps another type?

Yes sweet basil. Not an Asian basil. Large leaf basil or any basil with an Italian name attached to it, if the garden center has those.

Genovese basil is what I usually grow to use in Italian dishes. It's the type that is traditionally used in basil pesto, but it's good for any Italian dish that uses basil.
