Come and relax in the Diabetic Forum! We are all about relaxing, chatting, and having an iced tea on the front porch! Let us know what you are cooking up on your next picnic, and share those delights!
So.....it's hot in the Northern Hemisphere, and a time when you take solace under a shade tree, porch, or pool. What is your healthy, (diabetic) picnic, or grilled food that is your "go-to" recipe? What would you like to make this month to stay cooled off"?
Here are some I have found and loved!!
Greek Pita Sandwich With Italian Dressing, #298530 by Pneuma
Open-Face Vegetable Sandwiches, Diabetic, #281581 by Annacia
If you have already played a tag game then you know how this works. If this is your first venture into the fun of recipe tagging let me tell you that it's easy, fun. All you do is find a recipe that you would like to make. Remember we are looking for healthy and healthy is very dependent upon individual needs and diet. You'll have until the end of the month to report back to us here in this thread. Thats all!
To tag please follow this format:
TAGGING FORM:
I want to remind everyone of the requested tagging form. Please include all on the following info when tagging and reporting.

Chat strongly encouraged

I'm in! One question though. There were so many great sounding recipes in the My 3 Chefs game and the garden party one, can I use some of them?
I'll tag Healthy Cucumber-Tomato Salad Recipe# 28662 chef # Malriah

Good mornoing all! Not sipping iced tea but will soon enough. It has been so blistering around these parts and still no rain to speak of. Saturday DH and I ran out side and danced in the back yard while it sprinkled. That was the first rain in I can't tell you when.

Hi Paula
I'm definitely dreaming of some more warmth here, but what you tell about your place sounds horrible Wish I could send you some of our rain!
Try to stay cool!

Thank you Mia. The desert isn't horrible and does hold a certain beauty. I have lived in many parts of the country and have decided that the good is there is you only look. The last couple of years have been unusual. We are entering the monsoon season and hope to have some rain in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear I'm praying for you to get rain during monsoon season. Actually I didn't mean that the desert is horrible - I've watched the movie The Living Desert as a kid and was totally fascinated. I just imagine that suffering from drought must be quite horrible. Maybe it's just because my DH already starts suffering when the temperature surpasses 77 degrees F

Ahhhhh....just this morning I made iced tea....put 8t REALLY FABULOUS green spring oolong loose tea in a 2Q pitcher, added 8c boiling water, let stand until cooled/steeped & stuck it in the fridge. The top has a strainer so I left the tea in. And I can just add more hot water to re-steep!

Mia, I understand. Your DH would have a terrible time here. The temps so far in June have been in the upper 90's and low 100's. Early July is our monsoon and then the temps start cooling off some.
Bethie, I'm making sun tea. I have the tea bags in the pitcher filled with filtered water. In a couple of hours a freshly pitcher of brewed tea will be ready to enjoy over ice.

Sorry you all....with no power (we have a stand alone generator) we've been up a creek, thank goodness for the generator. It's hit well into the 100''s since last Friday, and the storm has left 1 million people (in Maryland) without power. My son and DIL are camping at our house....and have had to cool the horses off with a hose.
Looks like we are relaxing, chatting, and sipping the iced tea Bethie mentioned. I think I might have some of that tea in the cupboard, so I might make some today
Paula, so sorry to hear of the rain situation. that really sucks, and I hope you get more the a little shower in the next weeks.
Mia, you mean it's not hot there? I'm amazed! I'm glad it stays cooler for your DH, and I pray a nice summer for you!
Well off to clean stalls, cut grass, and .....and...and.....be back later, have a great day!
