Susie, I just had a question about the scoring for the sandwiches (well, two questions, I guess ):

I understand why Curried Egg Salad Sandwich on Raisin Bread #275350 and Tuna Nicoise Sandwiches #483149 were disallowed (I didn't catch either one of those when I was scoring, or I wouldn't have submitted them, sorry ), but the team and I are "arguing" Vegemite Downunder #484111 and Chicken Naan-Wiches With Date and Yogurt Sauces #376675 being disallowed. In the first one, I don't understand why an English muffin sandwich was disallowed. No wraps, pitas, and pizzas ( ) was clear, but isn't an English muffin a form of bread/roll? In the second recipe, I know that naan is typically used as a wrap-type item, but in this case, the recipes clearly states that two pieces of naan are stacked with a filling in standard sandwich form. I'm not sure why this one was classified as open-faced, because it's a closed sandwich and was made as such. I already mentioned this to Leslie, but I'm putting it here as well so it can be brought to the attention of the red pen team.
Sorry to be a pain so late in the game, but I/we (The Honeys) would really appreciate it if this could be reviewed again .

The Scoring Team has gone over these two issues at length and has come up with a final ruling.

The Scoring Team is in agreement on the ruling:

Chicken Naan-Wiches With Date and Yogurt Sauces #376675 is disqualified as a sandwich for the following reasons:
"For the purposes of this bonus the definition of a sandwich is: Two or more slices of bread with a filling such as meat or cheese placed between them. Buns would be acceptable, while wraps or pitas would not. "

~ Naan is considered a flatbread, (like a pita) and for the purposes of this challenge will not count as bread
~ The photo taken by the chef clearly shows it as being open faced

Vegemite Downunder #484111 is disqualified for the following reason:

~ it's not because of the bread choice (English muffin), but rather because it is served as an open-faced sandwich as per recipe instructions:
The recipe calls for one English muffin split, 2 eggs, 2 slices cheese
1. Spread each half of English muffin with 1 teaspoon Vegemite.
2. Top each half with 1 slice of cheese and a poached egg on top of cheese. (or scrambled eggs).

We have been ruling against open-faced sandwiches for this particular challenge as per challenge wording. So for consistency, we view this as we did other open-faced sandwiches that might have used good old Wonder bread as the base.
