    time and temp help needed!

    Mon Nov 05, 2012 11:17 am Groupie
I'm thawing out three English cut roasts, 2 2/1 pounds each to make shredded bbq'd beef for sandwiches. I seldom use a crock pot, in fact I had forgotten where I'd stored the darn thing, (it was hiding in the back of my bedroom closet)! I have no idea how long to cook them nor at what temperature. They are partially thawed at this point, can I start cooking them before they are completely thawed? Any help would be appreciated.

This is a recipe I posted for shredded beef, courtesy of America's Test Kitchen, Everyday Shredded Beef Filling (ATK, Slow-Cooker) . If your crockpot is large enough, you should be able to do all of it in one.

If the roasts are very nearly thawed, I'd go ahead and start, but really it's got to be close to thawed.
