This has been made and enjoyed:
Dukka - Egyptian Spice Mix
Any other suggestions for using this spice mixture?
Before shot (before grinding the mixture)

Just wanted to tell that I have made all my tagged recipes now but will be maybe a little late with reviews. I have to install my new mac now and then go back to do all my pending reviews.
Sorry for being late, but my computer is an old man and has to retire

not a problem. we don't police reviews in most instances.

Hooray for KateL! She sent me some info: Vegetarian Times listed a companion recipe: Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes With Dukka #479863. Doesn't that remind you of Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole? So I think it could be sprinkled on all sorts of foods.
Also, there is a Dukka recipe in the Iranian cb: Dukkah (Spicy Nut Mix for Dipping With Flatbread) #84436.

Talked with my Egyptian neighhbor about Dukka. She said it is only used in Egypt to season oil for dipping bread, and it would be American-style fusion to use the spice combination on other things like sweet potatoes or green beans. She said that Dukka is a mainstay of the poor, who can't afford more nutritious food. If they can't afford the oil, they would just have the spice mixture dry on bread.
So I am asking the forum, would Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes With Dukka qualify as Egyptian for ZWT?

YES. Two reasons: it doesn't need to be an Egyptian recipe, just a Middle Eastern/North African recipe. And it qualifies because it uses a typically Egyptian 'ingredient'. For ZWT, recipes don't necessarily have to be authentic. They need to at least be 'in the spirit of...' and have some typical ingredient(s). It gets difficult when recipes/ingredients cross forum lines but we take each question/recipe individually & see where it fits best.
Hope this helps!

Finally got my last two reviews posted!
Completed:
Egyptian Condiment (Daqua) #107277 by Egyptian John
Ful Medames - Egyptian Fava Beans #173528 by Nana Lee
Loved them both a lot! This condiment is brillant with potatoes (at least for me - I have that weird British habit of eating French fries with vinegar )
And Fuld Medamma was even liked by DH. He usually hates broad beans because he only knows the WEstfalian way to make them
Thanks so much for this delicious trip through Egypt, I had some excellent eating

Thanks! Fries & vinegar is a British thing? Growing up in Maine, at the State & County fairs, w'd have fries sprinkled with vinegar! YUM! I've noticed the Dukkah recipes are sometimes very different, never mind the spelling is usually different, too. And the day I discovered fava beans was a wonderful day! And I have since discovered a market nearby where we can buy them frozen so we don't have to wait for the fresh!
I am so glad you enjoyed Egypt! Perhaps you'd enjoy Persia as well?

I have so wanted to make some recipes from Egypt. I lived there for a couple of years so know the cuisine well. But I started full-time work in April and my life is reeling out of control. Hope to make it to Persia. Thanks for organising these tags. Lots of fun, even if I only get the pop in to salivate over the pics and choices.
