One of the key reasons I use Food.com is that it is so easy to enter a recipe, make it private and just be able to know my nutritional intake by portion size.
I use SparkPeople, and have tried other sites, to manage my weight and overall health. However their menu planner, meals tool is woeful.
What I would like is that if perhaps Food.com would open up some kind of import/export thing so you could go to a SparkPeople site, insert the recipe number, and enter a portion size.
They would import the recipe from you, and then populate their nutritional thingy with the appropriate values based on the selected number of servings.
Many of my recipes are purely a "single serving" so that I can figure out how much I am eating, and plan my diet accordingly.
Either that, or would YOU folks actually just build us a nutritional counter in your own site? Imagine, today you have tab areas for "Recipes>, Cookbooks>, Menus>, Community>, Shop>".
Now add a new tab: "Dietary Planner>". Under this you have a tool that will let a user browse recipes, cookbooks, menus, etc. and select what they are going to eat, then select the portion size, meal times, etc.
Your tool then just adds a set of reports with a few simple math tools on the back side and you can show folks what they are eating, and how it will affect their dietary goals.
Just have one other tool too, a BMI calculator that shows calorie intake to maintain a target weight, (punch in your current weight) and a BMI index showing the recommended calorie intake based on weight loss goals.
THIS site is SO much better than others in how easy it is to add a recipe.
Can you do what you did for Food.com (making a great tool) and do the same for dieting, or please help others out with your great tools?
