This cookbook was made in the late 1980's and had a great chocolate fudge cake recipe in it. Can't locate it anywhere. It may have been sold as a fundraiser.

    Welcome to the forums, Marilynn.

I don't have that cookbook, but I can recommend Chocolate Fudge Cake (link) to you. It's been tried and rated by some of the best cooks on the site. If you give it a try, recipe reviews are very much appreciated. icon_smile.gif

Was your cookbook titled Mead Inn, or did it just contain some recipes from that business?

I couldn't find anything entitled Mead/Meade Inn on Amazon. Click on WISCONSIN COOKBOOKS to see some Wisconsin cookbooks. Maybe what you're looking for is in one of them.

In the meantime, give some of our other members time to respond to your query. All is not lost.

Hi, Marilyn! Did it have coconut? Did it use a cake mix? Frosting?

I live 10 miles from the Mead Inn and I have never heard of such a cookbook. I did call the Mead and asked them if they knew anything about it and they had not. However we do have a local call in radio show and I will call them on Monday to see if anyone still owns the cookbook. If I do find out anything I will let you know. Good luck!

I am the one who had a recipe from the Mead Inn. It was not from a cookbook from Mead Inn it was from a cookbook that contained recipes from all the different restaurants in Wisconsin. I have looked for that cookbook but think I resold it in my rummage sale or it is still packed away in boxes for my next rummage sale. I will be having a rummage sale in about 5-6 weeks and I will keep my eye out for it when I unpack the boxes. I do not remember the name of the cookbook or the publisher. Meanwhile I hope someone else has that particular cookbook. Good luck in you search.

I'm not familiar with the Mead Inn, but I know our local library has a cookbook containing recipes from many bed & breakfasts throughout the state - I checked it out a few months ago, but can't remember the name of it. Is the Mead a B&B or just a restaurant? If a B&B I could check the book next time I'm at the library and see if it's in there...

The chocolate cake Recipe I'm looking for from The Mead Inn did not have coconut in it. The frosting was rich and thick and the cake was very moist.

I just don't know the name of the book or whether the book had lots of difference recipes in it from various restaurants and bakers.

A former student's wife told me she remembered it as a fund raiser when she went to school in Wisc. Rapids in the late 80's.

I e-mailed the seller of the Cookbook on Ebay and this is what she said,

"Hi, I looked in the back under the listing of all the Inns & restaurants, but the Mead Inn was not listed. There are 2 chocolate cakes listed but not from that Inn."
