    Hi there,

I have become interested in cooking dishes from India, but don't have store access to many of the spices and herbs needed. Can anyone give me links to reputable online sources? I'm especially interested in something named "garam marsala".

    Thanks, appreciate the help. icon_smile.gif

There are several recipes posted here
    Garam Masala for Cunswim

    Mom's Teacher's Garam Masala recipe
    Mughal Garam Masala

    There are many more.

See if your library has or can borrow "5 Spices, 50 Dishes" by Ruta Kahane. It's Indian cooking with just a few spices. I posted these recipes, Anglo-Indian Beef (Or Lamb) Stir-Fry and Chickpea Curry With Fresh Dill (Rasa Walla Kabuli Chana)
There are a few more posted b others
    Corn With Mustard Seeds
Black-Eyed Peas in a Spicy Goan Curry
    Railway Potatoes
    Chicken in Cashew Nut Sauce

Many of the markets in my area carry Indian spices so I am not familiar with online sources. Penzey's does carry a number of them, I have just not had to order from them, since I have them available.

I'm a great fan of Penzey's they ship fast, always include an extra little sample for free, and have good customer service. I use their garam masala and their tandoori mix.
