Yummly is pilfering recipes and photo's. I had never been there before tonight and they had 42 of my recipes that I only posted here.

Is this allowed? Ethical? Annoying? icon_evil.gif

It looks to like Yummly is a recipe search engine. There are recipes of mine available there but there is a food.com icon under them when I searched. Granted I did not go to the recipes themselves.

If you click on the recipe link, it will take you here.

That said, I know that Food.com has asked Yummly to cease and desist. I don't know what the status is on that.

Hi! I am the new community manager for Food.com. Yes, we are working on this issue. If you google a Food.com recipe and Yummly ranks higher, please let us know. We are using these examples to work on a solution.

    Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

Hi Jasmine - I was wondering if this was still an issue we should be concerned about?

    Thanks!

I don't know if you should be concerned or not, but Yummly is still linking here.

I just don't get it. Pilfering? Cmon. The beautiful thing about the internet is the ability to SHARE around the planet (yes can be a bad thing too I know). Yummly shows a super photo when available, you can click on it and just look at the ingredients. For more YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE ORIGINATING WEBSITE.

Whats the big deal? If you want to see exactly how to make it you end up right here, right where the recipe started, made, developed, what ever. Now at the end of the day all they have done is driven more people to Food.com...... The only persons that would object to such are the ones that do not want any competition which are the ones that are not confident they are doing the best job and have to FORCE people to stay in one place. I rest my case......

Jockey, I see your point, but I also see theirs. They want reviews HERE, which they're less likely to get if someone links from another site.

Less likely to get them HERE either if they keep messing this place up.

Exactly Iowa Horse. I agree. I have not posted a review in the longest of times simply because this site just does not function at all as it use to. I never even looked elsewhere previously but I sure do now. In fact, this is the last place I am at and then it is only to find a recipe I have saved. Sad. This actually was a fun, easy to use site back in the Zaar days.

In response to the "reviews" concern. You cannot post a review on the yummly site. The site just shows a photo and the recipe ingredients if you want more you must then go to the originating site. Personally, I really like the site and found super recipes, other recipe sites, and recipe blogs. Food is not allowing photos to be shown there which in my opinion is their loss as persons then will choose recipes with photos first (I know I do) and the persons here that have worked hard to find or develop a great recipe do not get to share it with many many others. Isn't that what this whole thing is about anyway?
