Laury, good to hear you are heading to your sister's tomorrow, have fun with your family.

Me, well it is almost 10 pm, I am waiting for the kids to go to sleep so me and hubby can play Santa. They are tossing and turning, one just got back in bed because she needed a snack. Gonna be atleast another hour I think.

tasb, Oh, how I wish I had little ones in my house that believed in Santa. I remember those Christmas eves waiting for Santa, hearing what we thought was Santa on the roof top, couldn't sleep because of so much excitement. My sister's and I were talking about that yesterday. Doesn't seem many kids get that excited anymore. Glad to hear a few do. I will never forget the first Christmas my nephew was old enough to know about Santa and how excited my sisters and I were. Becky and I went to my other sister's house bright an early so we'd be there when Jay got up. When he got up he walked down the hall and straight into the kitchen for breakfast, we were oh, so disappointed. Sarah, my friend, posted that her little girl got up this morning and said, "Mom, It's a snow day miracle, Santa left me something in my sock, left presents, and ate the cookies! It's so amazing, Santa is real!" Now this coming out of a four year old's mouth simply amazes me. I hope she is not already doubting Santa. Plus we had no snow, as a matter of fact it isn't even cold, just a cloudy day. I guess that is why she thought it was a snow day miracle.

Laury, hope you enjoy your time with your family. Certainly Christmas is just about one gift that was given to us over 2000 years ago, so I don't feel gifts are necessary. I truly enjoyed my sisters and me going out to dinner yesterday and coming back to my house to open gifts. Bonnie, I didn't get one kitchen gadget for Christmas, but then I didn't need any either. icon_smile.gif

Hope everyone's day is wonderful and blessed. Mine certainly has been.

    Love to all,

It was about an hour before we could do our sneaking around. I started getting mixed up doing the stockings. My oldest (14) has been good about not letting Santa out of the bag, usually boys are mean. My girls (8 & almost 10) still believe, or at least let on they do.

We had a early morning, me and hubby were up at 5, then the youngest was tossing just after that. The kids were happy with what they got, but my youngest has a hard time getting her interactive toy to understand her, and she speaks clearly, just not loud enough. I got a Keurig coffeemaker, not the exact one I wanted but still happy to have one. Just it came with Italian Roast coffee, which is VERY strong. I am slowly drinking it. May keep my old coffeemaker on the counter until I can get some new K-Cups or a My K-Cup.

We had a good time at my sister's yesterday. We had agreed no gifts but we gave them the chocolate liqueure and we did receive gifts. My BIL had filled the stocking with things like chocolate coffee beans, ground coffee, sausage and lottery scratch-off tickets. Out of the 5 of us, only I won something on the tickets. I won $5. Then my sister and BIL gave us a check and my nephew gave me a subscription to any magazine on Kindle.
The fact that my nephew gave me something was a big surprise. Tom and I had thought of giving each nephew $20 or $25. They are both computer programmers and well paid. He decided our money wouldn't really help them that much.

Laury, happy to hear you had a good time with family. Most time that is all you need is time.

Last night I called my parents house after all was said and done here. We just ended up playing pass the phone, most of my family was there so I went from Dad, Sister, Step-Mother, Brother, Foster Sister. All the commotion in the background because all the kids playing, was great to hear, one day I will make it home for a big dinner. They are only 4 hours away but either I don't have time or money, this winter it is non-confidence in the tires on my vehicle. They are ok for where I live, as I only have to drive hills, but to get home I have to drive a mountain (9 miles of just up and down), not mentioning the twisty drive to the mountain, since they get a hell of a lot more snow than we do, I just don't feel safe.

Laury that was very thoughtful of your nephew, now if mine were to be that thoughtful I'd pass out. We are having Christmas with he and his family this evening. Or at least we are suppose to. I don't count on them until I see them.

Tasb, sounds like you have some good kids. I also know about tires and mountains. Since I live right in the middle of two mountains we rarely go anywhere that we don't have to cross a mountain so I bought me two new tires the first part of Dec., wasn't what I wanted to spend my money on but if I didn't do it no one would. icon_smile.gif

Can't wait to get this last shindig over with and get back to life. My sister is having surgery tomorrow, so I won't be around much. I think I dread this as much if not more than she does. I hate just sitting at a hospital waiting.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Got up to a quick breakfast of Holiday snack food. Opened gifts which where just small things as we'd had our Christmas back during Thanksgiving. But DH and DD both got me a lovely necklace, earring and bracelet set made by a local artist here in Trinidad. Then we called all our family to wish them a happy day and talked with all the little ones and heard their amazement with the day. Then the got ready for all our company, about 12 others who had no family here and enjoyed all the pleasant company. The next day "Boxing Day" we took a long drive along the coast to just enjoy the scenery and it was quite and lovely.

Today it's back to normal and want to take DD to a few places to see as she'll be leaving next Monday and we'll truly miss her but know she's getting anxious to get back and see her boys.

Everything went fine with my nephew and his family except they were a couple of hours late, but then what is new.

I haven't been around much because I have the flu and my sister had her surgery and things are just a little crazy here right now. This is the first year in probably 20 that I haven't taken a flu shot and low and behold if this isn't the flu then I don't know what it is. My doctor called me in some medication yesterday and I have stayed in bed most of today and a lot of yesterday. Our oldest sister even stepped up and help me with my other sister today.

Hope everyone is fine and I will be back when I feel like I can hold my head up for more than a minute or two.

Hope you are well and feeling better soon. DD leaves for home tomorrow and we are sure going to miss her - the house will feel so quite without her in it.

I have been around, just on my phone, I seem to be too chatty to make posts with that. I went shopping for some of the things I didn't get with the Keurig hubby got me. Hubby is saying it is becoming an expensive present. The reason why I asked for the other one, I would have got 5 packs of coffee and the k-cup, now I had to go out and buy those. I have a rack that holds the k-cups on order. The one I wanted wasn't stocked in store, so I had to order it and get it delivered, might take 2 weeks to get here.

Jac, sorry to hear you are sick, thankfully your other sister stepped up to help out.

Laury, so have you decided what magazine you are getting? Hoping all is well with you.

Bonnie, sorry to hear your DD is leaving, thankfully you had time to spend with her over the holidays. Sounds like you got a nice gift from them.

Jacqueline, are you feeling better today?

Bonnie G, I know it is difficult to have your daughter leave but realize when your husband retires, next year, you will be able to spend time with your family.

    tasb, enjoy your shopping!!

I have not been able to find a magazine I really want to receive by Kndle yet. I already receive Bon Appetit, Food Network Magazine and Good Housekeeping. I can't find anything that is calling out to me. I considered Cooking Light but Tom doesn't really want to cook that way. He feels that cutting fat or carbs doesn't taste good. Most of the other cooking magazines use too many ingredients and too many steps.

    See you tomorrow at -

Laury, my very favorite magazine is All You, I get it in print and on my Kindle. Usually read it on my Kindle but get the coupons and such from the printed edition.

I am feeling some better today, esp. this evening, this morning not so good.

I have my pre-op on Thursday for my shoulder surgery, can't wait to get that surgery over with and it has seemed like a year since I was told it needed to be done and we set the date.

Tasb, I am too chatty, to post from my tablet, too.

Bonnie, I am sure you will miss your daugther, there is just something about mothers and daughters. I miss my mother every day and the things we once did together and sometimes I feel guilty because I know I don't work as hard as my mother did. I mean she and my grandmother both would not go anywhere without their hair done and their make up on. I wear makeup maybe 3 or 4 times a year and I stay in my PJ's a lot if I have nothing planned, wouldn't have caught them in theirs.

Well, I guess I am going to go to bed and if I see the ball drop that is OK and if I sleep through it that is OK, too.

Happy 2013 to all of you, see you in the new thread tomorrow.
