Jacqueline, I am glad you had a good time at the VFW. Most of the time I don't drink, either. Once in a while Tom will put chocolate liquor in our morning coffee. I am very sure he doesn't put much in mine.
In public housing there are no electricity bills so it isn't being cheap to not have the heat on.

tasb, that is funny about not recognizing your father. When I went to college a friend asked me out. When he asked me out he had a full beard and mustache. The day to go out came and he was clean shaven. I didn't believe it was the same person. He had another friend verify it was the same person. (With my perceptual motor learning disability I can't judge things like height and weight.)

tasb - what a lovely story and a lovely "gentleman" my Dad was so much like that and your story had me thinking of him and missing him so much. Be sure and give him a big hug and tell him how much you love him as often as possible

tasb, I cried when I read your story about your dad. Mine was like that, too. He would have done that for one of us girls.

Laury I wasn't saying you were cheap, I understand you can't tolerate, probably the smell, I said I AM CHEAP, when it comes to spending money on electricity and such things. Now when it comes to putting clothes on my back I am not cheap, but cheaper than I use to be. Actually, my mother always made a statement that when I was younger I didn't understand but now I do, that was, "The older you get the less you need or want." I am finding that true and I use to think it was terrible when a man would come in the store and say he was buying his wife a new washer, vaccum cleaner, etc. for Christmas. My dad almost whipped me many of times over that one even when I reached adulthood. I'd just kind of look up and say if my husband bought me something to work with for Christmas he may as well not come home or something along that line. Now I would welcome a new washer or dryer, if I needed it and or a new vaccum cleaner, even a drill would work. I am sure my mother would roll over in her grave if she heard me say I'd welcome it.

My sis and I got up and went to Virginia this morning and went to Walmart, was back before Church started, so I have a feeling this is going to be a really long day.

Well DH and I enjoyed a nice long weekend. He gets every other Friday off so we caught up on some shopping on Friday and then on Saturday went to the beach with some friends and Sunday just hung around the house.

Today my maid will be here to get the house in order before Christmas (she takes the week of Christmas off) and I'm really excited that tonight our DD arrives to spend the Holidays with us. I can't wait

Jacqueline, I can understand how you feel about a husband getting his wife something to work with. Tom and I have decided that we give each other gifts for holidays, etc. that the other one would not buy themselves anyway. He doesn;t buy me clothes because I would normally get clothes. If I want something nicer than what we normally would spend, that can be a gift.

Bonnie G, it's wonderful that you had a fun weekend together. Enjoy having a maid and your daughter coming in!!

The only new thing for us is we got some photos back from when I was at my sister's a few days after Thanksgiving. I look okay but not great. I may try to post some later when I can get into it. I finished my 3'rd day this week of walking.

Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie, I would say I wish I had someone to come clean my house, but I did, today. I got a lady that goes to our church, has three children and I am sure with it being this time of year can always use extra money, to come help me get my gifts together, arm just won't let me do it, and to clean 3 rooms and both baths. We also had company so we didn't get as much done as we had planned but it was fun. She is coming back on Friday to do my kitchen and touch ups. I think she is also going to help me with the house when I have surgery. I know you are excited your daughter will arrive soon, if not already.

Laury, I love the pictures, thanks for posting.

    Tasb, how's it going?

DD arrived late last night, jet lagged and the start of a cold - but excited to be here. I'm letting her sleep in this morning and it's a good thing as it's pouring down rain outside. Once she's up and the sun comes out we'll be going out exploring the area so will be getting my walk in today. So glad she's here, now it feels more like the holidays.

Jacqueline, finding a woman at your church who has children to come clean was an excellent idea. One of the e-books I read recently (Christian romance) had a character who did this. When I lived in Los Angeles and needed help cleaning, I hired one of the other youth group leaders who had returned to school. She had time, and needed money. It worked.

Bonnie G, I am so glad that you have your daughter with you for two weeks. Enjoy the time!!

By the way, I look heavier in my clothes than I actually am. I have to wear clothes which have no zippers or buttons. My fingers can't handle them. I weigh about 150.. My doctor wants me to be anywhere between 130 and 140. She claims the additional weight is not bothering my health. I used to weigh 229. By the way, I also take Prednisone, a steroid.

Bonnie, glad your DD arrived safely, you all enjoy your time together, it will fly by.

Laury, Yes, this lady does need the money but who wouldn't with three children this day and time. She is going to work for me a while on Friday, too. BTW, I knew you were not heavy, actually I don't think the picture makes you look heavy. I can tell by your neck you aren't over weight. You can tell by my neck that I am. icon_smile.gif

Have a great Wednesday and someone find tasb, she is MIA and I miss her

Sorry, I took so long, the browser on my phone has been crashing when I try post anything. I still tear up when I think if what my dad is doing for my sister. I have been busy baking. Sunday I did some at home. Monday was with Gr 2-4's and I actually burned cookies. The last batch of the day, the bottom tray over cooked, it was my older DD's, and a few on other trays. Being I was out of ingredients for more Gingerbread I pleaded with the kids to let me replace them with Sugar cookies instead. Today was spent prepping for our Craft Afternoons. I am making Candy Cane Cookies and Cinnamon Sugar with groups of kids. Tomorrow I am finishing up the Candy Cane Cookies and then Thursday is gr 5-7 making Sugar Cookies I am done. I am being a meany, I am not baking with the 5 high school students, I don't think it is fair, I had all the other classes plan their baking 2 weeks ago. Time to teach them a lesson. I just don't have the time and I am running out of energy. Plus they have way too many privileges already. I am not going to be at their beckoning call.

Jac, when I met my hubby he never wanted to buy me anything kitchen related, the first Christmas he bought me perfume. I don't wear it at all. Still sitting in my bathroom cabinet. I bet the lady you hired was happy to have the extra money.

Bonnie, happy to hear you had a good long weekend with your hubby. Good thing you got the maid in. Happy to hear your DD got in.

Laury, like the pics of you and Tom. You look very good. You look great, same with Tom.

tasb, that's great that most of your baking with the students is done. I agree with you that the high school students shouldn't get special alllowance to not be on your time schedule. Either their teachers or they didn't get back to you in time. If you told the teachers when the deadline to get back to you was, you can't change that or next time nobody will get back to you quickly.

Jacqueline, you will make a great leader for the weight loss group because you know different diets and exercises. My doctor has said to not use any certain diet but just eat less. She also doesn't want me to exercise.

Bonnie G., have fun with your daughter and husband!!

Tasb, so good to hear from you and I am sure you are more than ready for a Christmas break after all your school cooking.

Bonnie, hope you are enjoying your daughter, and Laury, keep on trucking you do good my friend.

My sister has to have a colonoscopy tomorrow, and it is across the mountain and guess what we are expecting tonight? Yelp snow. She thinks we should go over tonight an set in the hospital waiting room, I am totally against it. If we go we should get a motel, not sit in the waiting room all night. We'd be miserable and they will put her to sleep in the morning and I will have to wait all day on her and then drive back, I'll be dead, or at least feel like I am. After this then she is having her gall bladder out on the 27th and after that I will start preparing for my surgery. Seems like a lot of stuff to do right here at Christmas.

If I am not back tonight or tomorrow you know I am snowed in across the mountain.
