Bonnie and tasb, I will keep your sisters in my thoughts and prayers.

Between the 6 and the 15 of November 1992 my mother had her stroke, was signed off life support and died. It is a very rough time for me and remembering. I was there. I was the one to sign her off life support, on my birthday. 'It is a sad time for me also.

Let's hope that all starts looking up very soon.

Laury, what a hard thing to do, especially on your birthday. It was the right choice for her, as she was out of pain. My former boss kept her grandma hooked up to machines for a couple months because she didn't want to let her go, even though the signs were there that she needed too, it was probably guilt because no one checked on her in a long time.

Bonnie, some years seem easier than others. This year hasn't been that hard on me, others I have been depressed and crying from mid-October until January. I keep a picture of my mom inside my computer desk, so it is always at hand. It is the one I scan for when my kids need a picture of her. It was taken 6 months before she passed.

Me, I been a busy bee all weekend. I think my freezers will be over-stocked by the time I am done. I haven't gotten around to make the Swiss Chard Lasagna yet. I was about to start it yesterday but realized I used almost all the lasagna noodles on Saturday. So I made bread and Personal Beef Pot Pies instead. When it came time to make the pies I realized I was low on shortening so I had to run to the local gas station for more shortening. I picked up lasagna noodles too, I don't want the chard going to waste. So I will make up those today, I have to slice the 6 loaves of bread I have in the frig, and put the other 6 in to chill before I can slice them. I find it easier to slice bread when it is chilled. I also put aside enough pie dough to make Buttertarts, I have been craving those for a few weeks now and have bought a couple from the gas station. So I am just going to give in and have some. Oh and I have to cook up the last pack of hamburger.

Wow tasb! It sure seems that you have been cooking up a storm.

It was a difficult day back then. My step-father and I were the next of kin in California where my mother was. I requested he do it so I wouldn't always have to deal with it. I requested this around 10AM. He refused because he had a dental appointment at 4PM. I think he could have managed to do both expecially since he drove and I didn't.

This year we celebrated my birthday yesterday. We went out to brunch. We were supposed to go out for dinner Saturday but I woke up in too much pain. As I get more tired, I get in more pain. Tom reminded me that I never should accept dinner invitations since I am never doing okay at that point.

This week exercises just doesn't seem to be happenning consistantly. Something seems to be going on in my body that I have to figure out and deal with.

    Hey everybody,

it has been a good while since Ive checked in here. icon_sad.gif Life has just been too busy and Ive really slacked on my diet and my exercise regime. Now Im back to feeling unfit and unhappy and I really feel I need to get a grip and start a change for the positive before the year is over.
I know I can do it and feel great about achieving things one step at a time, but I dont think I can do this alone. So, I thought I could come in here every day to talk to you guys and let you know how Im progressing and if things get tough and I feel unmotivated to have you here to spur me on. Would you help me?

Laury, sorry to hear that you were in too much pain to go out on your Birthday. But good that you did get to out afterwards. You will get back around to doing your exercises consistently soon.

Loula, welcome back. Keep checking in constantly. We need more people to chat with.

Me, other than my baking/cooking. I haven't been exercising. I haven't worked out in a week now, but I was so worn out last week with the big lunch we had, all the planning and prepping for that threw me off kilter, by the time I got home all I wanted to do was sit on the couch. Plus my back was hurting all week, I ended up pulling a chair into the kitchen so I could sit down, which I normally don't do. I should have exercised last week because I know that does help with the pain, but I was too stressed and tired.

After lots of freezer shuffling. I got everything done. But they are stuffed, so hopefully hubby doesn't get his gun license anytime soon. He wants to buy a gun and go hunting as soon as he gets it, but the freezers are stuffed right now.

First of all, a BIG welcome back Loula, so glad to see you. Don't worry, we all have lapses and times that we tend to put health in the background. The important thing is you're back and moving in the right directions now. We are so glad to see you here.

tasb, Sweetie - sounds like maybe your body was telling you "enough, I need a rest" not just from the excercising but the stress you've been through. You work so hard taking care of everyone around you, maybe you just needed a break. So take your rest and you'll get back to everything when it's time.

Wish my DH was a hunter, but he just can't do it - I love venison steaks but want mine all wrapped up neatly in butcher paper,, not looking back at me with sad eyes. icon_wink.gif

Laury and Jac, how are you guys doing this week.

Welcome back Loola! We all have gone through periods of time when we took a break from dieting and exercising. Then we start working on it again.

tasb, your body needed a break from exercising. You impress me with how well you take care of your family and your job.

Bonnie and Jac, what's going on for you lately?

Today is the first day I have some alone time. Tom has gone out for a few hours and I am thrilled. I have managed to do 2 walks so far and I plan to dust the bedroom for 10 minutes. I know for most people I don't do enough exercise. For me, though, I do what my doctor recommends.

You do plenty Laura and it shows with the weight loss you are enjoying. Keep it up and enjoy your alone time - that can be a very pleasant thing.

It was. I am doing well but I am still not feeling well so we decided to have me stop exercising for a day or two. Tomorrow he has a procedure and I have to go as his ride home. Then when he is done I call my sister and she is both of our rides home. The VA refuses to do the procedure unless someone else is along to guarantee that he'll get home safely.

Bonnie, I would so be all over it with a knife in hand. LOL Well actually I never gutted or skinned, just butchered, and I am pretty darn good at it too. But then I was taught how to in cooking school where no meat can go to waste. Safe travels back home. Hope you sister is recovering well from her surgeries. I am still kind of yikes'ing about both surgeries together. But then she would only have to recover once.

Laury, good thing Tom is looking after you, and like always you listen. But now you get a chance to take care of him, hope all goes well with is appointment.

Me, well I took everyone's advice. I took the night off of doing really anything. I did just want I needed to do at work too. No pre-prepping or anything like that. Well my heart hurts more.

Monday one of my aunty's messaged me, telling me about the wake for Grandpa, and that she was upset a couple of her half-siblings didn't show. I had to tweak the subject a bit, as I could get myself into trouble for meddling. I talked about how much I missed him and grandma, and what they were like when I did get to spend time with them.

Tuesday I called my sister, got news she is going for Chemo as of Friday, and asked how her kids were doing with everything going on, they are doing well, she told them they could talk to the school Counselor if they needed too, but she heard the Counselor really doesn't want to hear sad things, (really then why are you a Counselor?). Totally broke my heart.

Then called my step-mom today to see if dad as talked to the aunt that messaged me. Usually talking to my step-mom helps, but we talked about what was happening with grandpa's estate, or what is left of it really. So I got off the phone hurting more. Flat out financial elder abuse happening there.

Hi all! We are finally home from Tom's procedure. It was kind of strange. Within 10 minutes of our getting there he was whisked away for it. My sister immediately after 9AM, when we checked in, called to ask when he'd be done. Since I didn't know, I asked the nurse. She said a minimun of 3 hours. I called my sister when I found out, around 10:30. As we are talking, the phone in the waiting room rang. It was for me. I had to go pick up Tom. He was ready. I called my sister back to say "Oops! The nurse in the waiting room was wrong. Please, come get us." We are now home and starting our regular day.

tasb, I am sorry that you are having stress handed to you. You did good not exercising and not doing anything which could wait. I feel sad that your heart hurts over the situation going on.
Sometimes you need to step back and just take care of yourself, your immediate family and those closest to you for a while. They can help you take care of yourself also. I know it is hard. Hang in there. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Laury, hope Tom is doing well and feeling better.

tasb - Laury is so right, just take care of necessities right now; that's enough with all that's on your plate. I'm glad your sister and her family have you to talk to when they can. You remain in my thoughts.

I'm so excited, we leave early tomorrow morning and by this time tomorrow should be home and visiting with my DD and her family. Once I get back on line I'll catch up with everyone but it'll probably be a few days so just know you are all in my thoughts.

I am here, haven't forgotten you all, frankly I miss everyone of you. Tasb, hope things slow down for you and your family and sister are in my prayers.

Laury, Happy Belated Birthday. Did you get your Kindle? If so do you like it?

Bonnie, I know you can't wait to be back in the US. Will you get to come back in Dec., too? By what I read in the gadget forum, you are the gadget queen.

I am going to PT for my shoulder, but I don't think it is helping any at all. This new time is killing me and how I have managed to stay up this late tonight, I don't know. Since the time changed I have usually been in bed by 9 PM or so. The time changing has never bothered me before, but this year it is killing me.

Not lost any weight, but still have to get back with the plan, doing better, just keeping the junk food out of the house or only having a very little in the house.

tasb. have things quieted down for you at all?

Bonnie, have fun with your family.

Jac, I hope getting back with the program helps you lose weight.

My computer expert made sure the apartment is WiFi and my Kindle has come to life. I am enjoying it a lot. I am surprised all I can do with it!!
