I got up this morning and got out my Wii Fit and did 30 minutes on it. I use to love to do this, but it had been a long time. I think I am going to try to do this daily again and maybe I can lose these last 30 lbs.
Anyone have any other tips on how to get these stubborn pounds off? I know lay off the candy and there is now none in my house.

One of the things we do is have fruits and vegetables cut up so I can quickly grab something when I need a snack. Our schedule is so strange concerning meals that I always need snacks. Our breakfast is at 3:30AM, lunch at noon and dinner at 5. In order for me to take all the medicines I take a day, which is a lot, we don't want my stomach to be empty.
My exercise is walking 30 minutes a day 4 days a week, maximum. I do this in 3 10 minute periods. If I am in too much pain, or it hurts to breathe, I have to stop for the day, I am better at encouraging others to exercise than to exercise myself.
My goal is to eventually lose 15 to 25 pounds. My doctor claims that it won't improve my health and I should not be
discouraged if it doesn't happen.
What are your goals in both exercise and in weight loss?
What are some of your tips for losing weight or exercising?

WHooo HOoooo!!!!! Thank you, Joy, for leading me back! I am so excited to see my friends! It will take some time to catch up with you all! I thought of you so often.
Last year on May 2 I started a journey to a healthier lifestyle. I had to learn to take baby steps. That was humbling, but obviously what I was doing wasn't working. Baby steps such as measuring portions and tracking nutrients. Exercise started at a minumum of 10 mins per day and gradually increased. I re-learned how to eat and prepare foods in a healthy way.
On April 28th I'll be walking my first charity walk for the March of Dimes. 5 miles! I have been in training since February. Right now I am in week 4 of a challenge to lose 5% body weight in 8 weeks.

Granny, that is absolutely fantastic!! Anyone I have spoken to who has to relearn things has a difficult time. It isn't just you.
I am so pleased for you that you are going to do the charity walk for the March of Dimes. I helped with them about 15 years ago. No, I didn't do the walk but I helped them with accepting donations and accounting procedures.

I started my new life Jan. 24th 2011, I think, maybe the 27th, not 100% sure but can look it up. I had gastric by-pass and have now lost a little more than 80 lbs. My eating habits really changed with this but I still need to lose 30-40 lbs, then I am having some plastics, I hope. I also hope that I will lose 30 lbs with the plastics and my doctor says he thinks that is about what the lose skin in my abdomen will be. That's all I will have done, insurance covers it if you have skin problems because of it and I do.
Over the holidays I got off track and haven't been able to get back on track with my eating plan, but actually got off track this time last year with my dad became bed fast. I thought after he died it would be easy to get back on track, but that hasn't happened but I am working on it and today was my second day in a row to do my Wii Fit.
Welcome back Laury and Granny Moses.

I was able to exercise for the full 30 minutes today. I am not doing too well with dealing with muscle spasms but I will reteach myself the way to cope minute by minute. When I look at a full day of hurting I get depressed and discourage. Anyone can handle being tough minute to minute or second to second.

Do stop by and say how it is going. I am quite happy today because I weigh less than I thought I would. The most my doctor would be okay if I lost is 23 pounds. That seems like an
amount which seems doable.
I realized something about the way I eat today. I do have small meals but I do have small, healthy snacks every day. My snacks for this week are-
grapes, celery, orange, lemon for healthy snacks
pretzels, almonds, and 50 calories cookies when I want something more.
Do you eat a lot at meals? Do you eat many snacks? What are your snacks for this week?

Well hello everyone, sorry I have been so busy with having one grand daughter here and her best friend… for the last week, so 2 sixteen year olds in the house has been such fun but tiring - we hit the shops in a massive shopping centre about 15 minutes from us here.
I have never seen so much money spent i the 4 hours that we dragged ourselves around - we must have gone into 80 percent of nearly 150 shops………. but they had a ball and thats what its all about.
Food Laury, at the moment its been all about feeding the masses but need to get more healthy and loose about 10 pounds

Due to the fact that I have had gastric by-pass I can only eat about a cup of food, no more than 5 ozs, if you go by weight, at a time, actually, not normally that much. If a person has had weight loss surgery they are suppose to focus on getting all the protein in first, then fruits and veggies and last starch and fats. So eating protein first I don't often have room for much else. Since that is the case I try to eat veggies or fruit between meals as a healthy snack.
I have been out of town and must say I sure got the walking in yesterday. I think I died last night when I went to bed. It was so good to be home.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday. I got up and went to church and may have company this afternoon so trying to do some last minute picking up.

This is going to be a week of little or no exercise. Today I have to go get an ultrasound and xome more x-rays. With the amount of arthritis/fibromyalgia I have, getting my body to co-operate with the technicians is my exercise.
Wednesday we have a 4 hour fire drill in the complex. We are not permitted to have chairs outside. I need oxygen which won't reach outside. Trying to deal with the noise of alarms going off for 4 hours is what I will do. My husband is the one who takes care of the alarms on nights, weekends, holidays so all alarms from anywhere in the complex go off in our apartment.
Finally Friday I am the only person who has master keys so I am kind of in charge.
We found out this weekend that I never eat much. I may have to eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours but the quantity I eat is little. I will be more careful since I won't be exercising.

Laury, I would not deal with the alarms or being outside for 4 hours without my O2, if I were you. Don't you have portable tanks in case of an emergency? If not call your provider and tell them you need enough to last at least 4 hours and they should provide them. It is a law you have to have portables if you are on home oxygen. I am sure you have a wheel chair or scooter you can sit in it or on it, they have to allow it outside. If that is not possible then I would go to a mall or something while this is going on.

Hello! Did you have a successful weekend? I did. Hubby and I walked on Saturday. Last night he informed me that he has a PT test at the end of the week so has to watch carefully what he eats. We've been eating well anyway, but we're going to do a push over the next 5 days.
I completed my Beachbody workout today. It's the first time I've been able to get to the end. Granted, I had to do a couple of alternate exercises. Tonight we are either going to walk or ride bikes after dinner.
Have a healthy week!

Folks, I am killed. I mowed my yard, all I could with the riding mower, then pushed the hill and around the rock wall, then did the weed eating until I ran out of string and I haven't learned to restring it yet. This is the first time I have ever done all the yard work. Since dad got sick and then died I have hired my push mowing and weed eating, but figure since I am the only income now I needed to start doing it myself. LOL if you all don't hear from me for a few days you know I can't move. I just wish I had gotten it all finished but I honestly don't think I could have gone another step. I use a body bugg to measure my steps, calories burned and the intensity of the exercise. Not that many steps registered but I got over 3 hours of moderate exercise and that is the most I have ever had.
Hope everyone is doing well and having a good week.
