Many recipes contain ingredients such as wine, Coca Cola, lemonade, club soda and so forth.

What beverage do you enjoy adding to recipes?

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Recently, I was going through recipes for a large BBQ the hubs is doing. In many of the recipes for sauces, rubs and mops I found that a great many include things like.................

    KOOL-AID

    Absolutely Perfect Kool-Aid

    LEMONADE

    Lemonade

    BUTTERMILK

    Substitute for Buttermilk

    AND so on........

Beverages can add a great twist to a recipe or simply enhance the flavor of a much enjoyed dish.

What beverage do you enjoy adding to recipes?

If you have a recipe that contains a beverage and you would like to share it with us, please post it here!

Great topic, mama hope. icon_smile.gif I really heart cooking with wine and spirits. By the way, I am not a big alcohol drinker, but I do love cooking and baking with it.

It's amazing what a dash of spirits can do to lift a dish to greater culinary heights! Have you tried a dash of jack daniels (whisky) in your favorite bbq sauce or in a 'spirited' chocolate fruitcake, or how about some Kahlua fudge--yum! Or, would you care for a nice mug of chambord cafe mocha topped w/whipped cream, a dish of brandied carrots, or a nice dinner of white wine & lemon chicken!

Hope that got your taste buds awakened! icon_wink.gif

Although I know some people cook with soda (cola or ginger ale usually), I never have.
I use dry red or dry white wine or dark beer, sometimes vermouth or Marsala. I also use liqueurs (mostly in desserts). Of course stocks/broths and dairy products go without saying. icon_smile.gif

The usual, beer, wine, sherry, vermouth, port, Madeira, Marsala, milk, cream, and occasionally ginger ale. I once tried a BBQ sauce with cola but it was too sweet for me.

Let me see, the question was "What beverage do you cook with?" For me when I'm cooking there is always a beer in hand rotfl.gif

Mainly wines and beer but I have used whiskey and cognac.

I like to add a dash (or more) white wine to my vegetable stir fries. It gives a nice taste and goes especially well with carrots. If I feel like playing a bit more with a veggie broth/stir fry, then I mix white wine, Dijon mustard and soy sauce.

This IS a great topic, Hope! I would say that vermouth is the one I use most. but also tawny port, burgundy and on occasion, dry rose. What a boost they add to dishes! But then, cola, ginger ale and orange or grape soda make a yummy ice cream when mixed with sweetened condensed milk. icon_lol.gif

Beverages give an unexpected flavor enhancer to so many dishes and really give a lot of bang for the buck in lots of otherwise plain dinner fare.

If making oriental type dishes I use dry sherry or rice wine.
BBQ stuff I use beer, wiskey, rum or gin.
If using a soda beverage I go with ginger ale.
Marinades I use rum, beer, wiskey, red or white wine, or dry sherry.
