I don't have one, and not too sure if I ever need one, as I have a bigger family.
But we got one at work and I already REFUSE to scrub it. I will let that puppy go moldy, it isn't my job to clean staff-room appliances. I already said this to my boss. Well not the moldy part, but my refusal to scrub it.
Is it dishwasher safe for HIGH temp dishwashers? I mean 180 F minimum temp. I heard today that they were top rack safe only. And that is a home dishwasher, not commercial, well actually there is no top rack in a commercial dish washer.

Hi, tas!
Well, I don't blame you for not wanting to clean up after someone else. There really should be a rule that whoever uses it cleans it up, right? Unless, of course, it's actually in your job description to wash the dishes.
Either way, commercial dishwashers are heating up to 180°, while home units, even ones with built-in heat-boosters, will only reach about 145°. Items marked for "top-rack only" are in danger of getting too close to the element at the bottom of a home dishwasher, which may cause it to melt or warp. Commercial units do not have top or bottom racks, because of the nature of their usage, and the water is already pumped in hot enough to sanitize, whereas home units are equipped with heating elements in the bottom that heat the water after it's been pumped in.
However, hot water alone cannot warp an object, so in a commercial dishwasher, where the hot water comes from actually using 180° water as opposed to needing an element to heat it (above whatever the home's hot water heater is set at), means the object should not be in danger of warping or melting in a commercial dishwasher.
As I'm sure you know, commercial machines are basically just sanitizers. We still have to hard-spray off all the food before running the dishes through, and the MB pieces with the blades can be real tricky to get clean, just as any regular blender blade attachments can. So, spraying the pieces first and then running them through a cycle or two, in my opinion, should be fine.
I hope this helps.

Well dishes are part of my job description as a school cook, but I don't agree with having to clean up someone's smoothie or whatever out of a piece of equipment that is part of the staff room not the school kitchen.
I have already been suckered into cleaning the coffee pot and kettle. Thankfully the Tassimo hasn't needed descaling.
I am just going to pretend I didn't see your it should be ok. Because if I agree to clean it once then I am going to be stuck scrubbing blueberry skins out of it forever. If they want smoothies then they should keep making them at home. All that do drink smoothies bring them with them in the mornings. Tomorrow morning I am putting a note on it saying that it isn't high temp dishwasher safe, so if they use it then they have to clean it themselves.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I think I would just throw it in myself, but I tend to be too much of a "helper" person, and usually find myself back logged in the stuff I have to get done for the actual job. LOL

Normally I am that kind of person too, but lately with issues going on I have been come a cranky old hag, and will politely take it out in the ways that I can take it out. I refuse to make certain meals (my excuse is that I am not physically able to do it right now), thankfully I have many health issues right now, making it more believable.

I understand that fully, and I don't think of you as a cranky old hag, but it did give me the giggle I needed to get through the rest of my day! So thank you for that! :

Just trying to find a nice way to word that note. I am in grumpy mode so I won't write it yet, but most of my co-workers and the boss were there when we were talking about it being top rack safe only. And today the janitor put it away in the coffee cup cupboard. So maybe no one will use it for a long time.
There are days I feel like a old hag (I am only 36), as I feel so grumpy, but I guess I don't act it. People say I am so polite, or that I am so nice, so I must be able to suppress it. But I know they don't like some of my notes left around the staff room, I had notes on the frig saying I would toss things on Monday morning, and a note asking everyone to clean up their spills, both have been ripped down.

You are a fellow staff person, not their maid, and I don't think you are being unreasonable. We have a fridge, microwave and coffee machine, and people are expected to clean up after themselves if using the microwave. The refrigerator is cleaned on Fridays and everything in it is dumped. They had to make the rule because people were being unreasonable. Even frozen foods, as some people brought a month's worth of frozen dinners, hogging all the space.
But the note about the Bullet should be coming from administration. You should not have to be doing this. Administration should take a hand in this. Unless they are jerks.

Well I will give you a hint on administration. She is the one that wanted the magic bullet. Noone else even suggested having anything of the sort. She was there when I refused to clean it. Probably why she hasn't used it

Oh, no way! She wanted it and won't use it because she doesn't want to clean it. Lame.
Well, stick to your guns.

Well anything is a great idea until you realize someone won't clean up after you.
She wanted to use the kitchen's blender until I told her that she had to rinse it after using. And now that I won't touch the Magic Bullet because it "isn't high temp dishwasher safe" I am betting she won't use it.

Some people
While it is your job as a school cook to be responsible for the kitchen and the maintenance of it, does not make you in any way responsible for someones personal choices. Should the MB be a part of the job for the cafeteria, then yes, it would be your responsibility. Some entitled person uses it for their on personal business, then I find the clean up a part of that personal business.
Everyone should be cleaning up their own personal messes, and to expect someone else to do it for them, is well, the height of rudeness. It would make me grumpy too

All is good, the MB has been used once and washed, adn has sat in the cupboard where I put it, not fully put together, not moved ever.
