I remember my Dad taking my sister and I to see the movie Cinderella when it first came out and he bought us each a little "glass" slipper. (Of course it was really a plastic slipper!)

I remember drive in movies. We'd get into our pajamas, mom would pop popcorn and bring it along in a pillowcase, we'd throw our pillows in the back seat, and off we'd go. Such fun. The drive in theater had a playground, but we were in our jammies, so we'd stay in the car and watch the cartoons they'd play just before the movie. Then, intermission, they'd show the dancing soda cup, candy and popcorn boxes in the concession stand. Of course, we'd clamor for candy or a hot dog, but rarely got it. Ah, childhood! icon_smile.gif We'd fall asleep in the back seat before the second feature.

LOL Pammy, we did the same thing and we also had a stationwagon. Mom also made tons of popcorn but dad would go all out and get us 3 kids Welch's grape drink once in a blue moon. We played at the playground in our jammies LOL We fell asleep after the cartoons and right when the movie started. I remember my mom waking us all up by screaming at the top of her lungs at the shower scene of Psycho. She also scared the bejeebers out of 6 other cars of people icon_lol.gif
One time, I remember dad waking us up laughing his butt off when the movies were over at the guy ahead of us who accidentally tried driving off with the metal microphone you had to hang in your car window, he about tore his whole window out.

Wasn't it fun when we all became teens and would see how many people we could sneak into the drive-in? We got as many as 5 people in the trunk but my goofy brother was driving that night and what does he do? He parks right in front of the concession stand and we all got kicked out. He thought it was hysterical.

I remember when we were young we would catch pollywogs (tadpoles), put them in a jar and watch them grow into frogs. I still go down to the river and watch as they grow from day to day. Nature is just amazing!

Yup Junebug, I remember when no one locked their doors. I still forget to lock doors and sometimes in the summer don't even close doors. I know this is something we can not take for granted today but must learn that today's generation is not what it was when we were growing up. What a shame!

JuneBug remember how we played Draw The Frying Pan and Captain May I, Hide & Seek, OLLY, OLLY OXEN FREE, Blind Man's Bluff, Musical Chairs, Marbles, Ring Around the Roses, Hula Hoops, and remember May Day (we would leave a basket of candy on someone's doorstep, ring the bell and run). Do kids now days even know about these games? Oh what fun we had back then. We didn't get into too much trouble, we were too busy playing games, fresh air, lots of giggles, home by nine and asleep by ten.

I am old enough to remember all those games, and jacks, Marco Polo, too! ( I'm 49) Staying out until dark, piling in the house, and eating dinner, then watching TV with the folks until bedtime. Kids these days have a different kind of fun, don't they?
