Just tonight, I found one of my photos from here posted on Pinterest. The link took me to a blog with my food photo front and center! The recipe name had even been changed from the original on here. Of course, no credit given to me or the original recipe poster. GGGRrrrrrrr!
I wrote the blogger an email and in the nicest way I could, I asked for credit for the photo. Such thievery and dishonesty to let others assume she took that photo!
I'll let you know what her reply is...
Wow, I'm sorry, I never saw this post.
DuChick, this is exactly what we are trying to fight. Good on you for writing the e-mail -- did you ever receive an answer??
That is why we now think (against what Food.com said in the past) that it is best to CLEARLY watermark your photos. It does not have to spoil your photo, but it should be readable. Use the copyright mark ©, then your name.
Maybe use a colour which will not detract from your photo. If I remember (I do forget) I put © Zurie for Food.com on the bottom. Problem is: the thieves can easily cut it off, and maybe with Photoshop remove it.
It's an ongoing battle. That blogger stole your photo, it's as simple as that. Copyright infringement.
And now this
Pinterest thing: As I understand it, anyone can "pin" a photo up there. I think it's blatant stealing unless permission is asked ... but they don't. I don't know how that works, but I really dislike that site.
