I'm kinda partial to Paula Deen.

I agree, she is good.I've tried a few of her recipes, and with the exception of her zuchinni bread, they are good! I have to admit, though, I like Giada.

Confession: I don't like Paula Deen, basically her TV presence! Too screechy, too loud, too blonde!

I like Kylie Kwong (ever see her?) I think she's Australian -- a slender Oriental wisp of a girl, with wonderfully easy Chinese recipes.

And -- I admit I like watching Nigella!! I think she puts on a certain flirty attitude for the cameras, but she's so good to look at: my DH says she's "the food-loving man's crumpet". Not sure if that is rude!

That woman has great "child-bearing hips", as my gran would have said!! The camera tries not to show those hips, but we get glimpses!

I forgot about Nigella! She is good, also, but I find her recipes always involve a trip to the spice aisle! icon_lol.gif I keep a well stocked pantry, but invariably I have to go to the co-op, which is 30 miles away. I agree with Gran about the hips, mine would say the same! My DH also finds Paula screechy, he takes the dogs for a walk when she is on! I haven't watched many cooking shows this year, I've been busy baking for my farmers market stand, but the season ends on Saturday, so I'll catch up! I'll look up the woman you mentioned, never heard of her! I love Asian food, thanks for the tip! icon_smile.gif

It used to be the Two Fat Ladies, but Jennifer is gone now. icon_cry.gif

I enjoyed that show, but her bejeweled, highly manicured, bare hands plunged into the middle of whatever food she was making made me seriously wonder about the whole hygiene aspect.

Are we talking about the same person? I don't remember anything like that.

This is the one I was talking about, Choccie:

I see the she's wearing nail polish in that photo, but not in the photos in the cookbook I have. Interesting. I wouldn't have called those hands bejeweled and highly manicured. They don't look much different from mine, and nobody calls mine that! icon_lol.gif

I like Ina Garten and Nigella Lawson. If Paula Deen laid off the y'all a little bit I'd watch her more-she does have some really, really good recipes.

Sunny Anderson is growing on me as well icon_lol.gif

Watched an Eastern girl tonight, called Arti xxxx (forget her Portuguese surname, but she's from Goa, former Portuguese colony).

Liked what I saw -- she explained about curries, masala, showed how to mix it, explained about religious/meat-eating differences, and diffs between hot and milder curries.

Only one thing about Arti bothered me -- she talks very fast. I missed some of the finer points about her curry.

Nice girl. I like her personality.

She was always perfectly groomed (long, manicured nails) and wore multiple rings (bejeweled) on the TV show.

Not faulting her for that....I would have done my best to be perfectly groomed on TV also.

It just didn't appeal to my personal sensibilities when she was handling food so intimately.

What channel? Do we get it in the U.S.?

No, Two Fat Ladies is gone because Jennifer passed away. It used to be on Food Network. There might be some episodes floating around somewhere on the internet.

I don't question her hygiene. Lots of female chefs get dolled up for their shows. I never see a male chef take his rings off to cook! icon_lol.gif What turns me off is seeing bandaids on the chef's hands when they're handling the food, and no gloves or anything.

I like Lidia Bastianach sometimes, too.

I like her, too. She is so down to earth! Actually, I was asking about the girl, Arti, the one another forum host, Zurie was talking about. She couldn't remember her surname. icon_smile.gif
