Just a short remark, this is a jewish forum, and as such we do not usually celebrate x-mass, so jingle bells (as prity as the music is, holds no meaning to us). In addition since most of us will not have x-mass trees icon_biggrin.gif it also stands for a reason why we do not exchange and swop x-mass ornaments.

This was not meant as an insult...just as an education, however if you want to sing;- I had a little dreydel...I will be all in icon_biggrin.gif

I am well aware of the Jewish holidays and have had several Jewish members join me in my Holiday Ornament Swap over the years. Dreidels are ornaments that are exchanged as well as Christmas ornaments. The caption was only meant to "draw attention" and was the same for all forums.
The sign ups are now closed. Thank you for interest, it means that I did "draw attention"

Stepping in to agree with Tiggrr...

I was part of the holiday swap several years ago. I sent off some very pretty ornaments that were not Christian or Jewish, just pretty, some stained glass from the Old City in Jerusalem, etc. My swap partner was very courteous and asked me what my preference was and didn't send me anything with a Christian orientation. I received a lovely little winter village and a snow globe from her town. She also sent me some yummy, kosher Christmas cookies.

IMO, cookies and calories have no religion. icon_cool.gif

Cookies and calories have no religion indeed! LOL I agree, Mirj. I also agree that one can participate in "Holiday" swaps and other events and have your personal preferences respected. I am one of the hosts again this year in the "Let's PARTY" game, which takes place throughout December. While there are Christmas games and "decorations" during the event there are also Chanukah themed items. Plus you can pick your own dishes to make (check it out in the Contests and Events Forum closer to December) There can be interfaith participation in many events! Let's make new friends!

thanks Gals I love the Christmas/Hanukkah season. I think its a time of the year to make an extra special effort to spend time with family and friends. I know there is more meaning to both celebrations but that's what I think is the most important to me. I love to be able to pick out that special ornament and as I live close to a major city I know that a driedel is within my reach as well. I am dear friends with someone that is Jewish and she always brings Christmas cards for everyone in our group and we always bring Hanukkah cards for her. We celebrate together and that is what is important to me.
Would love for all of you to join me in the swap next year.

Education comes in so many ways and opportunities. Last year my grand daughter came home from preschool singing the Dreydel song and so at Christmas I found one for her, she had made one from paper, but that did not last long. Now this year we heard the song recently on a children's TV program and so we talked again about it and then showed her on the map and we talked about the Christmas story, that we as Christians celebrate, and that there are different people throughout the world who have different beliefs, but that we all try to live peacefully together !!! One of those teachable moments. Just thought I would share that with you!
