Are you talking about Ted Allen? "Peewee Herman look-a-like dweeb"? Seriously?
Yes, he is a real celebrity. He has been a judge on "Top Chef" and "Iron Chef America," and was the food and wine expert on the Bravo series, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." He is a cookbook author and writes for
Esquire, as well as many food publications.
I think he does a very professional job. Rachael Ray would turn the show into a circus ("Yum-O"? Honestly).
Thank you for the bio info, Chocoatl. OK, so maybe he is due more credit that I give. However, since I have only seen him twice on Chopped, I found him to be dreadful as a host, and painful to watch. I'd discredit no one's value as a "back room" resource. I just don't think this man has the camera presence that would be desireable on national TV. Surely, I can't be the only person who finds his public "face" dreadful.
Food TV is surely grasping at straws and scarecrows for hosts.
