I really miss the old Recipezaar search filter. Not only could you select specific ingredients or cuisines, etc. You were also able to exclude things from the results. If I wanted a French soup recipe, but didn't have any tarragon, I could exclude the recipes that called for the ingredient. With the filter I could cut out also almost anything from my results, like recipes that called for alcohol or for deep frying.

With the newer search feature, I can really narrow my results down, but it takes a lot longer to search through recipes looking for ingredients or methods I don't want to work with. Is there any chance of that great functionality being incorporated into the current search filters?

Rob, if you want an answer from the staff you'll need to post in Customer Support, as they don't answer in this forum. They have received many similar complaints, and it's my understanding that they are supposed to be working on something closer to the old Sifter. Most changes here take forever, and are not always for the better.

The most significant difference in the new sifter is the absence of Include All or Exclude All. But you can still limit to categories, exclude ingredients, etc. When you click Filter By Ingredient, you get a list of the most common ingredients, as well as a fill in box. When you click on the ingredients already listed, or the ones that come up, you get a green symbol and a red symbol - green is for include, red is for exclude.

True! I seem to mostly muddle through, but sometimes there are so many things to check off I just throw in the towel.
