Unless you live in Cuba, Tampa or Miami Florida chances are you can't find Cuban Bread. If your a fan of French or Italian bread your gonna love this one!
The baking method is different from Italian or French bread. After rising/punching down/shaping then rising again the dough is put in a cold oven, set above a pan of boiling water, and left to rest for a few minutes before the oven is turned on. Because the bread continues to rise as the oven heats, its crust is very thin and crisp. I also understand that string or palm fronds are used to get the traditional crease.

Here is a recipe posted by Marie-it's a sure way to get you on your way to enjoying Cuban Bread. Of course you must, must, must make yourself a Cuban Sandwich after all your hard work icon_wink.gif

Being from Tampa originally ( until 3 years ago) True cuban sandwiches are one thing I miss terribly. The ones up here that they call cuban sandwiches are on french or italian bread. No way is it the same!!!!
