It is kind of exciting I think. Can't wait to see the article! I know I am only one of a hundred they have chosen, but to be even one of those is an honor indeed!

Oh not really Sandie. But it's nice to be acknowledged in a way like that. Now . . . if only someone would put some cash behind the accolades!! THAT would be sweet, lol!!

Fantastic to have some appreciation of what you do. I read it every day.
We have just booked a fabulous holiday to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. I feel that it should be acknowledged as it is a milestone. We are having 7 nights in Hong Kong and then 5 nights in Dubai. I'm so excited about this trip as its way out of our comfort zone. We go next month so its soon.

Way to go Panda! Congrats on the 35 years. That's a grea accomplishment in today's society! Not many make it that far!

Had my first marriage worked out we would have celebrated 38 years in August and had my second worked we would be celebrating 35 in December! Having said that I will be happily celebrating our 12th with Todd in November, and indeed today is the 12th anniversary or our having met in person for the first time and also his 74th birthday, so a day for celebrations all round!

Just back from my step group. Down a pound, not as much as I would have liked, but still going in the right direction!

sorry I have not been on in ages, really miss the old zaar. I don't get notifications either now which is not good. Life has been busy as some of you know. I became a gran in march to my little prince, Kinnon. He is just adorable and has brought so much joy into my life, he will be kissed and cuddled away to nothing soon. I moved house last month too so I have had a few changes. I have not been done to your neck of the woods yet Marie, but it is high up on my to do list as I would love to be able to meet up with you.
I love following what you are up to Joy, one regret I have is that I have not seen much of the world, one day that will change, but seeing the pictures others put up is great.
I hope you find somewhere you like so you can settle Patchwork, it is such a big decision to make, especially in the current financial climate.
Really good to see heather posting again, glad things are working out for you, we missed you.
Enjoy your holiday Panda congratulations on 35 years, I would have been married for 21 years this year if things had worked out, oh my where has the time gone!

Angela I would really like to meet you one day as well. We live a lot closer to each other now. Hoping that we can make it up to Scotland sometime as it's a lot closer now and a place we both want to visit

I was really miffed this week. Last Thursday (6th September) I was contacted by a gentleman to say that a recipe I had submitted to the Food Glorious Food show was being considered for the preliminary heats in the North and if it was chosen as one of the semi final ones would I be able to travel up to Harrogate on this Saturday (15th) I said sure. Anyways the paperwork arrived on Monday (10th) congratulating me on being chosen and with all the details along with entrance passes etc. There were also some forms I needed to sign and send back. Todd is always my reader for these things and upon his perusal of the forms it stated that they needed to be returned and received by the 3rd of September. So he called them to see what was up and was told it was too late, irregardless of the fact that I was contacted a full three days after they were supposed to be in and the papers sent a full 7 days after. I was disappointed, dismayed and somewhat angry. This is my second brush with television and so far both experiences have been disappointing! Never again. If anyone ever contacts me again about any television program I'm going to tell them to stick it. Thankfully we found out it was too late before we had booked b&b and dog kennel. I would have been even more miffed had I sent the papers off and gone up to Harrogate only to discover it was a no go. icon_evil.gif

I am enjoying your travels too Joy! You and Simon are really blessed to have the finances to be able to travel like you do! Todd and I should have had better jobs when we were younger so we had better pensions! Hoping to see you when you are back in the UK! xxoo

Back from the Big Smoke. I was thrilled to have won the Turkey Blogger of the Year Award from the British Turkey Association. I was presented it by Sir Matthew Pinsent, as well as Pete Schrivner. Had pics took and all, not sure where to get a copy of them. Anyways, Todd took one when we got back to the hotel room, so it's not a great one. He always jiggles the camera.

We had a lovely evening at the Savoy in London, champagne reception, beautiful dinner, dance, entertainment, etc. Was treated like a Queen. Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty also won awards, and ASDA won retailer of the year. Celebrity Chef in attendance was Phil Vickery.

Got to see some friends from our days at Brenchley, Jo and Colin. We spent a couple of days doing the tourist thing, eating some great food and just having a good time. It was nice.

I understand Joy's husband is not well and in hospital. Not sure what has happened, but it must be so upsetting to have this happen while they are here on holidays. so am sending my heartfelt prayers and support to Joy! JOY IF YOU NEED ANYTHING OR IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO, DON'T HESITATE TO ASK!

Congratulations Marie. Sounds like you had great trip. And a trophy to put in the loo, too. (at least that where all the actors say they put them when they win an award!)

I hadn't heard about Joy's husband either. Hope everything's OK Joy.

(Joy's husband had a stroke, they are in Cornwall, so she will be understandably on the sidelines for a bit. Joy posted that he is doing well under the circumstances - an awful thing to happen on holiday.)

The celebration sounds like it was wonderful - all these well known names and you among them!

Thanks for filling us in on Simon's condition! I only just spoke to Joy on the telephone a few days ago. They were on their way to Lincolnshire with her sister. Keeping them both in my prayers for a quick recovery for Simon. This is a horrible thing to happen at any time, but when you are on holiday and so far away from home, well . . . it must be just horrendous for Joy.

The official photo was sent to me yesterday. Can you tell I am over the moon and a bit dazed? I never realized I was so short either. I am beginning to come down to earth again, lol. What an amazing experience!

Hi all...I know there's not many of us around at the moment, but I want to ask a question.

Have you ever seen green tomatoes on sale in the UK? I presume they aren't available unless you grow them yourself? I can't say I remember seeing them anywhere. Just a thought...I've been wanting to try Fried Green Tomatoes!
