Gee, it seems no one posts here often. Or much..What can we do to get this B.C. thread moving?
I am in the S. E. of British Columbia....and we are having wonderful weather so far...for the 6th of November. Clear blue sky, not a breeze..there must be someone out there that is having a rainy day. or a wonderful day...something! Lotus

Well, might start off with trying to get people to post about fun things they have been up too, How is life on the west coast. I have made my way across the Prairies to Alberta but have never been able make it to BC, one day for sure though.
Anyone started there Christmas shopping yet? I was in the grocery store last night and suddenly realized they were playing Christmas tunes. I really think that its just a tad too early icon_wink.gif

I scraped the popcorn ceiling from my DD's bedroom last year, what a horrible job! I wish you luck icon_wink.gif

On Sunday Bed, Bath and Beyond had a big 30% off sale for friends and family of employees. I have a friend who works there so I got a Waterpik for $30 which we need for when DD gets braces next month and then also got lots of Christmas presents.

Walking through the store made me want to re-do all my bedrooms and bathrooms though icon_lol.gif

Tomorrow the installer will be finished with putting in our new ceramic tile on the main floor. What a mess it has been. We had very old linoleum, so that had to come up, the subfloor had to come up and then new thicker subfloor put down before they started to lay tile. Last year I updated the area with new paint, new lighting, hardware on the cupboards and curtains.

hmmm, no one has been here for awhile; but neither have I!

I was away for the winter, and now that I'm back, I'm busy.
    Clearing out the garden, lots of tree branches down;
    and painting in the house,
and trying to clear some stuff out.
I think I'll be selling this place and trying something smaller,
    somewhere else probably.
    What's everyone else doing?

Wow, that's weird, I was just thinking about you. We were staying at Spinnakers & went for a walk along the WS walkway walking past your "bench" & I wondered how you were doing.
We're still here, I'm doing pretty good.

I don't come to food.com very often but just got a topic notification.

Are you thinking of staying in the same town or someplace else? It's tough trying to keep up a place by yourself. Zmail me if you want to get together for coffee sometime. GG

Haven't been here in ages. I couldn't get onto the site for a couple of months after the switch, the site would kick me off, so I finally just gave up. Anyway, I see the thread isn't very busy, I'll try posting a bit more often now that I can get here.
I'm looking for a good clay pot pork roast recipe, I know, sounds like winter food, but that's what it feels like here. It's raining & chilly today here on the left coast, so roast it is.
Also, we've decided to eat low carb which is new to us, but we're liking it a lot & my clothes all fit much better.
Hope everyone had a great Canada Day!

Great photo!! icon_smile.gif Beautiful yard....and nice flag placement!

I am toying with trying a carb cycling diet change. I just haven't figured out how to eat little or no carbs, what foods don't have any cafbs? Confusing. But I'm eventually going to try it.. I want to have MY clothes fit better too!!

Thank you for the kind words! That flag goes up every year on the gate.

The low carb thing is pretty easy, but if you want to start off slowly, just stop having bread, pasta, rice, potatoes & sugar. I know it sounds harsh, but we found it fairly easy. I have whipping cream in my coffee in the morning & we now eat eggs for breakfast instead of oatmeal. If you want an overview, just google, Mark's daily apple, his blog gives you a good overview of what it entails.
But.... you have to cook, no more packaged stuff. This is where people have a hard time with it, if you're used to using packages. We weren't so it was pretty good. Good luck, if you decide to try it. GG

    Hey! How is everyone?
Nice to see you, Gumboot! Are you finished Painting? I did a lot of painting too, in the spring. And now I just finished painting the fence! Enough of that!

Not much for news here. I have had a good crop of kale, and the garlic is almost ready, lots of tomatoes coming, (so far, knock wood!).

We are having summer finally, after the most miserable long spring that I can remember. It is lovely to be warm.
We have a haze in the air here, from forest fires in Siberia and Asia. I don't ever remember having that before.

I've finished the painting (on the inside anyway) We've finally been able to start our outside projects, we had to wait til the swallows fledged their babies before we could take the roof off the shed.

BB, I've only been to Oceanside once, looks like a beautiful area, hopefully we'll get up that way before the summer ends,
We seem to get locked on going to Tofino in the fall, but maybe we should look at camping up that way, it would be easier to get the trailer there than down that windy road to the wild west coast.

Not much else going on here - anybody else got news??
    Cheers! GG
