    Vegetarian Daughter

    My 9 year old daughter has decided to become vegetarian. She has been doing very well for a month now, so I am in need of some easy main dish recipes that us carnivores will enjoy as well.

    She will eat dairy and eggs. And will even eat a dish with meat in it as long as she can pick out the meat.

    She used to love tacos, spaghetti, hot dogs. I have purchased veggie burgers and she likes them ok. I made spaghetti and took a portion out for her before adding the meat to ours.

    There aren't too many veggie she will eat by themselves, so I'm looking for creative ways to get more veggies in all my kids icon_smile.gif

    Hi there,

    sorry you've not received a reply sooner icon_redface.gif I've not got internet access at the moment and have just hijacked a friends laptop to check in!

    I promise to pop back in later with some recipes and ideas for you, but was wondering if you've tried any of the tvp or quorn products - such as the mince / ground meat equivalents which can work well in place of real meat in recipes such as bolognaise sauce (for use with spaghetti, in lasagna, chili con carne, taco's, enchiladas, sloppy joes, cottage / shepherds pie etc)

    You can use nuitrela to make some new dishes and it also have nutrition for your daughter.

    Hey there~Just saw your post. Sounds like you're daughter is pretty conscientious about what she's eating, but I know that can make it hard on you in preparing meals! So, my first thought would be to mention this to your doctor and see if he/she has any suggestions on resources or material that would help you find good meal ideas and ensure your daughter is getting all the nutrients she needs. Maybe you've already done that, but just a thought. Also, while at Focus on the Family, I heard a short broadcast on having kids that are vegetarian or vegan. So, that might be worth listening to if you have a moment. Lastly, I've heard that the book Healthy Meals for Less: Great-Tasting Simple Recipes Under $1 a Serving by Jonni McCoy has some good vegetarian recipes in it that your daughter might be willing to try-plus they're not expensive! Just some suggestions-hope they help!
