And if you are a Farmer's Market shopper, we'd love to see photos of your local Farmer's Market and the 'zaar recipes you'll be enjoying from what you buy there.
    icon_exclaim.gif

Here is our local Farmer's Market, the one I love, everything picked fresh that morning or just the night before, sooo fresh, crisp and delish icon_exclaim.gif These photos only show a small portion of it icon_biggrin.gif It is an outside market and takes up about an acre covered with each vendors open tents and goods. There are sections that sell local honey, every kind of berry you can think of, jams & jellies, pickles, exotic foods, locally grown/ground organic wheats & oats flours, local cheeses, apricots, peaches, apples, pears, plums, all when in season right off the trees, hot sauces and salsas, crafts, even local raised meats, beef, lamb, pork, chicken, all frozen ready for the freezer, or order it fresh, local baked goods and lots of breaky, lunch and snack places selling wonderful filled crepes, samosas, Polish dogs, popcorn, lemonade, and all the usual burgers and trimmin's. Even home made clothes, leathers and jewelery too icon_exclaim.gif It's a wonderful, fun, interesting place, I love my Saturday mornings there, nothing more fun than a lovely sunny warm summer morning wandering through the rows of fresh goods; all my fresh veggies and fruit for the week come from our delicious Farmer's Market, and you must be early cus all the real good stuff goes so fast, like the picked this morning walla walla onions icon_eek.gif The only thing better I can think of would be to have my own veggie garden again but most of the stuff is probably better than I could grow myself icon_lol.gif

    HERE'S HOW TO PLAY

This weekend on the way to the lake for 4th of July we will pass a million road side stands and I can't wait to stop and pick through the produce! icon_smile.gif

Before I commit to a recipe, is it okay to post photographs? My garden has been fully organic from the start -- having been dug out of literally virgin soil in 1999! It needed a lot of compost and old chicken manure (best for veg gardens!). No chemical fertilizers or pesticides have been near the veggies.

The strange thing is, leave Nature alone and you simply do not have that many pests!!

So let me bore you. I'm bragging: hit me! icon_cool.gif

These were the first ripe tomatoes this year, and the greens are the "tame" arugula with the large leaves. I'm addicted to it.

Spring bounty: masses of herbs! The chives are garlic chives, which I love.

More pleasures ... Unfortunately someone has to rinse and pack away (me! icon_rolleyes.gif ) The centre greens are bok choy, which for some reason thrives in my garden. See how healthy the leaves are! icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Since I can't find the photo of my lovely sweet onions, here's a quickie shot taken at an organic veg market:

Zurie how beautiful - Love every photo and envy your tomatoes - Ours are just beginning and it will be another month before they are ready

Bergy tags Mixed Green Salad and Mustard Vinaigrette #431347 by Chef mariajane

First, here are two photos- first one my mixed salad greens and the second one the lovely spinach. Then photos of the salad - The last photo has chopped sweet onion on it (I have to have onions in my salads) I won't post that to the recipe. I added boiled eggs to the recipe and cut the oil back to 2 tbsps - Still a great dressing.

Used fresh parsley and cherry tomatoes from my tiny patio garden and walla walla sweet onions from the Farmer's Market. This was a delicious sauce to which I added a chopped up cooked turkey pattie I had in the freezer, the walla walla onions and some veggie fusilli pasta, toped with a bit of sharp white cheddar, mmm mmm goooood icon_exclaim.gif

    the sauce

I'm so glad you posted this over on the Veg*n forum or I would have missed it. This topic is right up my alley! And....hoping to get to at least 1 farmers market this Saturday so great timing.

We've had a terrible growing season so far, cold cold spring - so not surprisingly, the only things ready to harvest are all the leafy plants - kale, parsley & arugula in particular are going crazy.

As soon as the sun makes an appearance I'll get some good photos taken.

    Thanks again!
