    Hi all,

I went to see a Chicago Cubs game yesterday. It was the first evening game I've been to in awhile. With the afternoon games I've been to, I've been able to eat a meal before the game so that I'm not starving at the park and feeling down that I can't enjoy a hot dog like everyone else. However, this game started at 7:05, and with working during the day and taking the train to the park, I didn't have time to eat beforehand.

So I went to one of the concession stands and asked if the cheeseburgers or chicken breasts already came on a bun. The woman there said yes. I told her that I have a wheat allergy (easier for people to understand than "gluten intolerance") and can't eat buns; was there anything she could do for me? Her manager said it wasn't a problem to make a fresh cheeseburger for me; I only had to wait a few minutes. It was hot, juicy, and delicious. (He actually gave me two patties with a slice of melted cheese in the middle so I kind of felt like I was eating one of those "double down sandwiches" from KFC - two breaded chicken breasts with cheese, bacon, and special sauce in the middle!) I paired it with some popcorn and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything! Best of all, I felt fine all evening as well as this morning, so I was able to have some good summertime fun at the ballpark without getting "glutened."

    But the Cubs lost . . . icon_sad.gif

    Nice job, thanks for sharing!!

Thankfully, more and more people everyday are associating a variety of health issues with food intolerances, so understanding and cooperation is easier to come by. I get just the hot dog at Costco, and when I first started they looked at me like I was nuts. Now so many people are requesting no bun, they're used to it. It's nice

I love the new labelling too, with wheat and dairy having to be listed if there's even a possibility of cross contamination. Makes shopping so much easier
