    Portuguese seafood bread stew

    I hope someone can help me. I recently came back from a trip to Portugal and had the best dish of my life! The waiter told us the english translation of the dish is seafood bread stew. It was literally cooked in a pot where bread was chopped up on the bottom and there was a lobster/shrimp/scallop/mussel/clam stew on top. The waiter mixed the bread and the stew tableside before serving it. It had the consistancy of a wet thanksgiving stuffing, but the flavors were amazing. He said it was a traditional southern Portuguese dish. I have looked all over the internet for portuguese seafood bread stew. Can anyone help? I had it at a restaurant in Lisbon called Lisboa Note is that helps??

    Hi, do you by any chance recall the Portuguese name for the receipe?The reason I ask this is it could be various recipes, one could be Migas, the other coul be a Açorda, or Caldeirada (which is a fish stew) but since you say it has beard on the bottom is sounds more like a Açorda to me. I live in the Northern part of Portugal we usually make alot of Caldeirada(fish stew t) in the area we live in, down south they cook a little differently. Let me know if I can be of any more help. icon_lol.gif

    Hi, the dish is definatly acorda de marisco. Caldeirada doesn't have bread.
