    Egg Genie... anyone??

I have acquired an Egg Genie with no instruction manual or water measuring cup. I have seen the YouTube videos and know how to use it, but does anyone actually have one of these things that could tell me what the water measurements are? Thanks!

All I got from the demonstration video on their website was to fill the water to the mark. So, like my rice cooker has markings inside the area you put water in that tell me "minimum" & "maximum" water fill levels. Does the Egg Genie have anything like that?

My mom had a version of this back in the late 70's that she used at least for 10 years. It wasn't called Egg Genie but did the exact same thing. I have always wanted one just because you could pop the eggs in & forget about them while doing other cooking. icon_smile.gif

I also found a phone number to contact the company with any questions. Maybe they'd be able to give you the water measurement or maybe you can purchase or download a manual. Good luck & let us know how you like it!

ETA: Mom used hers every morning for making dad a soft boiled egg as well as hard boiled whenever needed for appys. I know it wouldn't last as long for me now because we have hard water & it just destroys any appliance that uses water in it; coffee maker, steamers, etc.

Thanks for your response. I actually called their 1-800 number yesterday and the lady I spoke with said they would try to find one to send to me.

Apparently it has lines on the cup that say fill to "here" for this amount of eggs/doneness...

I got it so my 9 year-old could make her own hard boiled eggs without me worrying about her spilling boiling water. She just has to be careful with the steam, but she's good about helping me out in the kitchen so I don't think it will be a problem for her. I am anxious to try it out!

I have a similar one, much older but same style, that has markings on the inside for two different hardness levels. I used to have a filling cup also but so much easier to just look at the level on the cooker. I don't even know where the cup is now.

I love the egg cooker and use it at least a couple times a month. So simple to use.

I've been the same way with my kids, Itsneverenough. I don't think it's ever too early to start letting them help & learn in the kitchen. icon_smile.gif

DS started with things like shucking corn at age 3 & we just kept adding more difficult tasks. He's a great kitchen assistant. Now at 16 he's teaching the girls in home-ec class how to do very simple things, like crack eggs & measure dry & wet ingredients properly. icon_wink.gif
DD is just 3-1/2 now & has been rolling dough, sifting & measuring dry ingredients for a good year.

And for the record, DH is also a very good kitchen assistant. icon_biggrin.gif How'd I get so lucky? icon_biggrin.gif

    Hi, CC! wave.gif
I think my mom's had those inside markings too. Like my rice cooker. I have no clue where the "special" measuring cup is. lol

Unfortunately mine doesn't have any lines on the inside of the cooker. icon_sad.gif That would make things sooooo much easier!!

I tried filling mine and came close to 1/4 cup for soft eggs and 1/2 cup for hard-cooked. You might try that as a starter.

Mine is a very old West Bend that looks like this:
