I was picked twice! It was a real surprise since I only have 6 recipes up and not a very big bio.

I LOVE your turtle! But no, our rule is a human face.

We opened it up to being chef of the day after a year or two instead of only once in your life...why not?

Liza, I'd like to nominate Niteflyer. He expressed an interest in being chef of the day. After a little encouragement he posted his picture.

There have been many times lately where I could swear the COTD was just recently named COTD....am I nuts? (I've been around since 2007 and I recognize the names quite easily). Even though many people choose not to post a photo on their profile, there must be thousands of profiles (with photos) that have never been chosen as COTD.

So I am curious, does Food.com "flag" a profile so that staff knows if someone has already had the honour of COTD? I see there is a list of previous nominees but don't know how you would check a chef name without going thru all of them individually or knowing a date to look up.

This is not a case of sour grapes as I choose not to post my photo, I just want to be sure the" honour" is not duplicated. Thank you! icon_smile.gif

I think Nitko would be a good candidate, if he has not been one - he has posted some interesting recipes. nitko

Want to see your or another great chef's photo and bio up in lights? Post a link to their about me page here and I'll get them scheduled!

    The requirements...

A photo of the chef (not just the kids or a house, we want a human)
A nice blurb about the chef, can't be blank
Some contributions to the site: reviews, photos, recipes, a combo of contributions is ideal.

We will take any and all and would love ANY help with showcasing all the talented and diverse chefs on RZ!

    *****************************************************

Again, a chef can't be COTD more than once, so here is a list of the archived chefs of the day so you can check if they've already had the honor:

I feel that there are some chefs who might not feel comfortable posting their own pics; however, they should be given an equal opportunity to be "Chef of the Day" even if they only provide an icon next to their name. By requiring a chef pic, you really leave out a lot of wonderful chefs who deserve some recognition and exposure.

Perhaps you could do something to enhance and focus more on the Chef name in this column vs. focusing primarily on the picture!

Of course, this is just my opinion, but I think there are others who would probably agree.

    Thanks,

Just curious -- is my suggestion (above) possible? Since I sent this z-mail, I have run across many chefs that have great recipes, interesting bios, but don't have pics of themselves. Some have pics of their family, pets and some just icons. I really wish we could give everyone a chance -- some chefs have been a member since the Recipezaar days and they may never get a chance for some recognition/exposure because they don't have a pic of themselves.

Thought I would mention this again!

    Thanks!

I guess the answer is "no" since I haven't had a response on this issue. I noticed that the "chef/member of the month" does not have to have a pic; therefore, it seems reasonable that "chef of the day" could be chosen and recognized without a personal photo as well!

Unfortunately, we will be missing out on many wonderful chefs!

Regarding the "Member of the Month"

Hi Nancy, I do have picture on my page (about me page) and also as my icon. It just wasn't published on the home page.

It's always been this way of having the chefs show their faces, I guess food.com's thought is that it gives it a more realistic view and more familiarity of having the persons photo.

I think you have a very valid point, and I hope the powers that be will take heed.

    Hi Andi,

Thanks so much for your response. I know that you do have a pic out there and that was my point -- food.com did not post your picture on the home page; however, they were still able to feature you as Chef of the Month by just using your name and info from your bio. I just don't understand why they can't do the same for Chef of the Day???

I just don't like using photos of myself and I assume there are many others out there as well. Unfortunately, our opinions and concerns are not always heard or appreciated. As you can see, I have not even had a response from the food.com folks -- you are the only one who has even commented. It would be nice when members take the time to make comments and/or suggestions to at least have a response.

Since food.com advertises this website as "Home of the Home Cook", perhaps they should listen more to our suggestions and concerns vs. ignoring us. Sorry if I sound a little frustrated, but I am.

    Thanks again, Andi.

I have been watching this thread too. I only joined in 2007 and I have seen this exact question asked countless times. If it keeps being asked, I think they should conduct a survey of the members and see how they feel...just saying!
