Introducing: A Peep Into Your Veggie Pot-Come Share!Go to page 1, 2, 3 ... 15, 16, 17 Next Page >>
*Banner courtesy of Phil Q.* Come share your menu ideas and favourite recipes! We all love to cook and bake-thats why we are here! There are so many different ingredients to use and also a million different ways of preparing them. From classic cooking to wild and exotic, the world of food offers something for everyone. Thats probably one of the most exciting things about zaar: You log on and suddenly youre in this completely different place, where you can try out so many different things. If you feel like trying something new, you dont have to look very far to find that dish, youve always wanted to try, but never dared to. But sometimes that choice can also be overwhelming, so why not take a peep at what other people are up to and find some inspiration in your fellow zaarites kitchen?! What people dish up for breakfast, lunch or dinner varies greatly not only from region to region or country to country, but also depending on the individual itself. In Germany for example breakfast is not a warm meal, but traditionally consists of either cereal/muesli with milk/yogurt or sandwhiches, which can be sweet (jam, nutella, honey) or savoury (cheese, ham). In America on the other hand breakfast often involves hot food such as pancakes with syrup or fried bacon and sausages with hash browns and eggs. We unite so many cultures and people on this platform, that Im sure we could all find some inspiration for our daily cooking in taking a look at what the others are up to. Thats why we have come up with this new thread: A peep into your veggie pot!. If youre interested, you have the possibility of sharing your menu ideas for the week with anyone who likes to hear about them. This way we can all learn about the eating habits and cooking favourites of others and adapt those to our liking. For us it sounds like a great way of learning more about different kinds of breakfast, lunch and dinner. We would love to hear what you dish up for your family and when! To break the ice, well make a start by telling you all about our meals this week: So, heres what Ive already made or plan on making later: Very nutritious, yummy, versatile and easy to prepare. A great side dish to almost any meal or if youre a pumpkin lover like me-the star of the evening all by itself FTs Spicy Roast Pumpkin A perfect way to start the day (no, Im not a drunkardJBs fabulous, 6 ingredient Dom Deluise's Beer Bread and Raven's yummylicious Beer Batter Cheese Bread

I don't have time to participate right now, but looking forward to seeing what everybody is eating!
Lalaloula, I love seeing and experiencing cultural differences. Thus I am looking forward to your Veggie Pot. Since I have been tagging I no longer plan my meals a week ahead. Should start doing it though as not planning is causing me to spend more money and gain weight. So I will be checking in to see what is going on. Are you going to be playing games? Maybe a cultural night, where we learn something about another culture and make a dish from that culture, well just an idea. I know it is evening Germany so I hope you have a nice evening.
So last evening I took 3 appetizers to a meeting. . .all were vegetarian and very yummy. I SO planned on photographing them and it just didn't happen
Easy Cheesy Corn Dip (Mild) (posted by me) served with Frito Scoops Pineapple Pecan Cheese Spread (posted by me) served with Wheat Thins Make Your Own Boursin Cheese - Paula Deen (posted by Life is Good) served with crackers and veggies. This is a MUST TRY recipe here, my friends. I have made it multiple times and end up giving away the recipe frequently. JB, those recipes sound super yummy! They reminded me of having to serve up some appies as well some time soon. Just cause I have so many of them saved to try out and never get around doing so. Well, maybe I should just host a party or something.
You have to see the bright side of you not having got the chance to take some pics: Everyone liked them so much that they were gone in no time and this is the perfect excuse for you to dish the recipes up again soon. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing! Loula Lalaloula wrote:

Actually I ported them to the party in tupperware and planned to put them in pretty dishes upon arrival. . .but as soon as I took them out of the bag the gals took off the lids and dug in Debbwl wrote:

Hey debbie!
So nice to see you here! You dont need to have you meals all planned out to participate. I myself dont do that either as the tagging makes me very impulsive. As far as the games are concerned: What a GREAT IDEA! I hadnt thought of it, but it sounds lovely! Ill have a chat with my co-hosts about it and Im sure well have that as a feature somehow. Would you like to tell us something about the traditions in your state/home town/family, maybe?! Id luv to hear it! Thanks for all the input and please come back again! Have a lovely evening, too! Loula OK. . .so food this week. . .
I made Wheat Berry Salad With Red Fruit which I have had for breakfast 3 days in a row now LOL. I did throw some peaches in it the second day to liven it up! It is SO delish.
I had Tomato Salad - Domates Salatasi for lunch on Monday which was as yummy as it was pretty.
I made a quick vegetable soup with some leftovers from the fridge (and a few items from the pantry) on Monday and served it with Ravenseyes Beer Batter Cheese Bread which was a WONDERFUL pairing.
Tuesday night we had one of our frequent repeaters which is VegSocialWorker's Belgian-Style Seitan Stew With Dark Beer (I make it with all mushrooms and zucchini instead of seitan). HIGHLY recommend this served atop some garlic mashed potatoes.
I just threw this in the crockpot: Peanut Butter Granola (posted by weekend cooker). Pre-cooked it is AMAZING stuff.
Lastly, I plan to make Broccoli Souffle (posted by weekend cooker) this evening for dinner. JB,
thanks so much for sharing with us! I seriously wish I could sneak into your house and have dinner with you! Ill add your recipes to our list. In the end well hopefully have a big cookbook full of yummy stuff to go to for inspiration. Loula Oh, here's what I had for breakkie today: Swedish Scones #384786 by Iceland
and dinner was very yummy, too featuring one of my favourite veggies: Roasted Butternut Squash With Lime and Rosemary #261814 by MarraMambaWOW
I'll tell you what I made this week, and then I'll come back later and let you know what I'm up to this weekend, as my "tagged" spreadsheet is on my home computer (don't tell, but I'm at work!) KateL's Garlic Lover's Fettuccine With Olive Oil, Garlic and Zucchini was a HUGE hit when I made it on Sunday. I think I'll make it again this weekend!
(Oh, Laura, you asked me what this is in the background - that's a mozaic storm lamp that you put a candle in - it's so pretty!) FloridaNative's Sweet Lemon-Jicama Slaw (Ww) was also delicious - who knew that jicama was high fibre and so GOOD?
weekend cooker's Toffee Apple Turnover Pie is also so easy and good!!!
AND, for anyone who is a sourdough lover like me, I made Donna M.'s Maple Walnut Sourdough Bread, which, like all of her recipes, is perfect!
And lastly, I've been experimenting lately with whole grain and seed & grain sourdough recipes, creating my own, and I made one up using a a mix I also made up, well, more of an addition mix, based on a product you can buy from King Arthur's website. My version is Sourdough Grain & Seed Bread, and I proofed the sourdough yesterday, soaked the grain mix overnight, mixed it this morning, and have the dough proofing in the fridge. I really, really, hope it turns out! My standby breakfast is toasted home made bread with chunky peanut butter and jam, which is what this loaf is destined for in the morning... I'll be back later with my plans for the weekend... I know they involve an italian pasta salad with some veggie salami and veggie ham, Karen Elizabeth's Cajun Salad Dressing and Rice Salad, and, some baking with blueberries! So... what have YOU made recently, and what are you making this week? Kat ![]() Lalaloula wrote:

Loula One of the things we enjoy about CA is that there a lot of annual food festivals. Such as the peach festival, garlic festival, the almond festival and so many more there about 10 different ones a year all with in about a two hour drive of were we live. And even more fun are the cultural festivals such as Cinco De Mayo, Island Pacific Days, The Greek Food festival and quite a few others. Our first five years of marriage we spent almost every weekend at one festival or another. We have seen a decline in the in the number and size of the festivals over the last few years, thinking the economy has gotten them. As for us DH works most weekends so we can no longer just take off like we us to. Hope this inspires every one else to share a little of there lives as well. Oh Kat, those dishes all look amazingly yummy! I cant help myself, they really make me feel like eating even though its so late here already and Ive just had dinner!
Those spaghetti went right into my cookbook. I luv garlic and I luv zucchini, so this is a must-try for me. Actually pasta is one of the most popular dishes in my parents' house. My mum luves Italian cuisine and her pasta is fabulous. She is one of those people, who cook by feeling/eye only. I admire that so much! Thanks for telling me about the lamp. My sis had suspected it to be some mosaic thing and she was right. Ive never eaten jicama...what is it and how does it taste? Id luv to try it out, but Im not sure I can get it here. Anyone wanna share some more recipes featuring it? Mmmm, youve completely got me with that absolutely gorgeous shot of the apple turnover pie. It makes me drool! Was it really easy to do? It looks so complicated-very fancy. That bread looks like the most yummy bread Ive seen in a long time. So fruity, hearty and delish. Ive never used sourdough, but I like it in breads a lot. I cant believe you made up your own bread! Thats fantastic!!! Cant wait to see a pic and hear how it turned out! Have a lovely evening all of you and HAPPY COOKING! Loula Debbwl wrote:

Debbie, thanks so much for sharing this great info with us! Im amazed to hear about these festivals! That surely must be lovely! What a pity you cant go there that often anymore, though. But well, you still get to see some of them, which I think is really nice! Here in Germany we dont have that many different festivals about food. We have fairs and there is a lot of food there, too, but not for the purpose of learning about certain types of food (like peaches etc.). Im sure you know what Im on about.
