    Hello wave.gif
On an outing to Speyer, my friend treated me to a delicious pizza-like dish covered with cheese, onions and herbs. I believe that it is a Flammekuechen. I noticed it on the menu in other cities in the region, (Heidelberg and Mannheim). I would love to recreate this at home for my family. Does anyone recognize this dish or have a recipe that they would share?

Tarte Flambe (Alsatian Pizza) In French its Tarte Flambe with an accent over the e! I love these and when we go to the Alsace we always save room to stuff one of these in! here is a link for making one simply with ready made crust etc...there are many recipes throughout the internet for this, just choose one, try it and if its not exactly what you think it should be, try another!!! Yummy, I'm coming to help you eat it!!

Yum! Sounds very much like what we had - and with ingredients that are available here. Thanks!! I'll be making one soon.

I see that you live in Belgium. I was recently in the amazing city of Brugge. We also stopped in the very quaint town of Veurne. What a lovely country!

I have a recipe for that on here: Tarte Flambée (Elsässer Flammkuchen) icon_biggrin.gif
The only thing you have to watch is the amount of water in the dough. It shouldn't be too sticky. You have to be able to roll it out really thin. Once you figure it out it's so easy and delicious. I make it all the time. It's one of those dishes that I crave and have all the ingredients in the house.

Thanks Bellinda! Your photo looks exactly like what I enjoyed. I can't wait to try recreating this dish. DH was not with me so I want to prepare it for him as I think that he will really enjoy it too! icon_biggrin.gif
