Sorry I forgot all about it, but I have one that I did some time ago, archived in Karen's forum, but it not really set up like a blog post.
Remind me next year if you think of it early to midsummer- since I live in Ohio in the land of Johnny Appleseed, there are a LOT of orchards here with apples among other things. I could try to rework something for your page.
I like the idea of small blurbs that would sort of "announce" when certain apples are coming in. New varieties are coming in ever earlier, with early macs coming in July.
As a matter of fact, that idea could spread into the growing season for all market produce. I don't think too many people are aware of when things come in.
What I think would be a good idea is to eastablish a group of people to write up announcements for produce in their area, such as Midwest, South, pacific northwest, etc., sort of like news reports emphasizing local foods and produce.
You know the eat local thing is really popular and this would play off that.

Apparently, variety meats/offal have become the hot ticket in fancy restaurants.

There are quite a few recipes using organ meats and such in the db. It would be neat to see more of them utilized.

Oooh, We never do anything on Bastille Day...that would be fun! The herbs are neat too...they all are! The only thing that makes me nervous about Bastille Day is the timing...when we update the site, it could be right before that and I'd hate to lose it b/c of timing. Perhaps for this year we go with something with no exact due date and plan on Bastille Day for next year? Corny, but I always make croque madames!

I would love to do an original article, for food.com as well on the basics of pressure cooking, and follow it up with a couple of simple recipes.

Pressure Cooking is catching on I have seen them In Top Chef, this season and MasterChef Australia has used them a bit as well!

Please let me know what you think. If there is lots of interst I would love to do a whole series!
