Please post any topics you'd like to see covered for food trends, cooking, recipes, etc. here and we'll see what we can do. We do have an editorial calendar that we have to follow, but there is room for more and even if we can't create a whole article, we could do a slide in the homepage switcher.

Also if we take your idea into consideration, you can be as involved as much or as little as you like. I'm just the facilitator, you are all the experts in your passion about different cuisines, diets, ingredients, etc.

The topics can be as simple as an ingredient you'd like to see featured or a cuisine, etc. Remember to think seasonally (fresh stuff in the summer, soups/stews in the winter, etc).

Anyway we'd love to hear what you all would like to see!

And Thanks to HeatherFeather for getting the ball rolling!

I would love to see some articles featuring foods that are in season each month.

Another idea was "Eating the Rainbow" - the idea that eating a variety of colored foods throughout the day helps gives you balanced nutrition. This is usually in reference to eating 5 veggies/fruit a day, and picking a different color for each veg/fruit.

An article on herb gardens for culinary purposes, perhaps calling for a thread on the Gardening forum about growing indoor and outdoor herbs. (And of course focusing on recipes that call for certain fresh herbs).

    Hi Heather!

OK, finally was able to meet regarding user blogs and we'd LOVE to see what you want to put together on herbs/garden/culinary angle. This is so exciting! I have a few other members that are interested, one might do canning and not sure on the other. Eventually we'd like to add a member blog area on the community tab so you guys can post whatever and whenever you like, but for now, until we can get that built, we are going to make it like a editorial piece that you create the content, I edit it, give back to you for your sign off and then I plop into the site and it will be promoted on our homepage!!!

A word document with 500 words or less on your subject. Feel free to make it blog-style, doesn't have to look like one of my editorial pieces at all. It is whatever you want to say, share, etc. We could do a little bio on you at the bottom so give me a photo of you, if you want and if you don't already have one on your page.

Include links to recipes and photos and other links on RZ that make sense, like to appropriate forums, etc.

Send it to liza at recipezaar dot com and we'll go from there.

    Does this sound OK?

We have time in end of July and August to promote your piece if you have it ready by then. yay!

And anyone else who is interested post your topics here and I'll get back to you.

Oh yay - well I can try to put something together before I move. I am moving in a couple of weeks, so time might be a bit short for me right now. I will see what I can do icon_smile.gif

Heather don't kill yourself, if you are moving and you'd rather wait, think of something you'd like to cover in the fall if you need to wait to give me stuff a little later, it is up to you! Just let me know more topics and we can find a good one that suits you and RZ. We are easy!

The apple season has already started here in Ohio with Early Macs, Lodi, Transparents, and some new varieties. I am really a fan of being self-sufficient so any articles for apples that include canning, for sauce and apple butter as well as canning apple pie filling and apple juice I think are great.

Also the produce season is in late summer, so any article on corn, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, plums and peaches are great.
With the economy being so bad, I think it is really smart and on top of things to know how to put up food at home.

Is there someone old-fashioned inside of each of us aching to get out? icon_smile.gif

Sue, would you be interested in putting together a blog on apples for fall? We could run it in Sept. Heather's is going to be public on Monday and you can check that out to get an idea of what we are looking for?

    Some more fall ideas:

Winter Squash - about the different varieties and unique ways to use them, not just for holiday casseroles and pumpkin pies

Maple - maple syrup, maple sugar, maple extract uses

and a continuation on the herbs idea, only this time focusing on mixing dried herbs & spices for homemade blends, with recipes on how to use them

I love the idea of an article on apples, SueL icon_smile.gif

Would you be interested in something about the Jewish fall holidays, especially Rosh Hashanah? I would like to write something about how to make a lovely meal for a crowd without getting stressed.
