I am from Elk Grove CA.
My best friend is from Lafayette, IN. I made Dog N Suds the other night and she says the recipe is right on. But I hear about Pizza King and Arni's Pizza. Keep me posted if you come across a recipe.

Central Indiana doesn't narrow it down too much, now does it? Muncie. How about you? I'm going to look back in the thread and see if you already said..............
I think we have 4 Pizza Kings within 8 miles of my house, even though we're in the country. icon_lol.gif

Hey yall; Hello from Alexandria, IN.

If you're trying to get the Pizza King clone sandwiches or their pizza, forget it. They use a special recipe peperoni that is extra spicy and cannot be purchased anywhere else. I have been trying for years and the closest I have come is that I know it is made by the John Morrell Co. in Cincinatti, using a secret recipe. I have even gone to the commissaries in Michigan and Ohio trying to purchase it.

I formerly lived in Lafayette and now live in southwest Florida. Every time I get back to Lafayette I go to Arni's and have an Arni Junior (with blue cheese...YUM) and a stromboli. I would practically kill for the recipe for the stromboli.

    Hello fellow Hoosiers:
I am from the Monticello area and was wondering if anyone has even come close to duplicating Arni's blue cheese dressing. I have tried for years and I think I could come close if I could just figure out exactly what kind of blue cheese they use. This is a secret recipe and I heard they make it in a secret place and then deliver to all of their restaurants. I probably buy a pint of it every couple of weeks.(4.85/pint) It is absolutely superb on fresh tomatoes or used as a dip. I have made stroms, but they don't really taste exactly like pizza king, but are pretty good.Have also duplicated their Arni's Juniors and they are real close to the real thing.

Give me an idea of how you approach the stromboli. I'm not an experienced cook and don't even know how I would start. PLEASE.

I actually bought two strombolis when I was in Lafayette and took them with me on the plane to Florida. I was tempted to open one up on the plane just to get people's mouths watering...but I didn't because that would have been cruel.

I have to agree with you about the Blu cheese dressing. I absolutely love the stuff, and I have never found any thing else that compares with it. Unfortunately the Pizza Kings in Alexandria and Elwood In. are not franchises and they do not have the dressings homemade like the others. Imagine my surprise the first time I ordered a large chef salad and waited for the delivery, when I opened the sack, mouth watering, only to find a packet of Newman's Own Dressing. Heartbreak, instant Heartbreak. icon_sad.gif By the way, it costs $82.35 to ship a large Pizza King Pepperoni Pizza to Rancho Santa Fe, CA. I know, because whenever my oldest daughter cannot live another day without one, she calls and starts begging, and I just can't stand to hear a grown woman beg.
