But ... TOMATOES are one product that's in season! These recipes are all made with fresh, healthy tomatoes!
Aaaand then ... do yourself a favour and check out some fresh tomato recipes on Zaar by clicking on the following link! Because I wanted recipes with photos, that's what I chose -- but there are fantastic photo-less recipes here!!! They are crying out to be tried out. At less than 300, it's not an overwhelming number to scroll through. So if you have a bushel of ripe tomatoes, here you are:

We love caprese salad! We have even found a vegan mozzarella that tastes good cold so hubby can have some.
Our tomatoes aren't ripe here yet but I'll remember those links when the time comes.

Zurie thank you so much for adding my tomato sauce. 2Bleu did an awesome job with the photo!
My mom used to slice tomatoes a bit thick and than add a layer of onion, salt, and pepper. She would get a pretty platter or large dish to serve them on and it always looked so fancy even thought it was such a simple idea.
Think these might be ok for a finer dining experience.

Are you inspired yet to create in the kitchen?
I am in South Africa, and not sure how available avocados are in the USA right now, but here are 12 delicious recipes!
To find out all, and to get recipes for your seasonal veggies. click on the link below. It's always cheaper to buy seasonal. And, say the nutrition fraternity, also healthier! They say Nature meant us to eat what is in season!
Well, in my part of the world the avo's are fantastic right now!

Recipe name and name of photographer are listed first, then comes the photo ...
(One word of warning, picked up from a remark in a review: do not let avo flesh get to boiling point. You can heat avocados, but only up to "warm" -- they turn bitter at high heat).

So, how about some lemon recipes? It is the one fruit I am never without! It is so versatile, and for some reason -- not shared by DH -- I loved lemon slices baked with chicken.
Lemon is, of course, a very healthy addition to our diets.
If you have time, and just type "lemon" into the Zaar Search line above, you'll get thousands of recipes containing lemon. (Okay, some are fairly artificial, but just skip those! )

That's fine, Kitty, let's see if you receive a notification now.
Gee, the recipes do like wonderful, illustrated like most of these!!
I will continue this in the "cooking in season" thread, but with the "Guess what this is" thread in the Afr Forum our GB's for the month are running out (I mean our personal gigabytes), so will wait until November! (Yes, we have to subscribe to how many we want, and pay for them! ... )
Photos eat up kilobytes ...

I love mussels but I'm the odd one out in the family so tend to only do for myself very occassionally but recently made Tisme Mussels in Garlic Butter 362206 and have to say I absolutely loved them though the DH thought they were o'kay but he's not particularly a mussel fan but at least he tried.
Photo by me (no the DH took this shot) but does not do the recipe justice but we were in a hurry to eat (a ZAAR curse I think) - next time I'm hoping to make it with the broth and sort of as a soup with some crusy bread just for ME.
