Most pointless kitchen gadget?

I have gotten countless gifts I will never use...you know the ones you wont even re-gift because you would not even wish them on someone else. I thought it would be fun to see what you guys have that is pointless, useless, or just plain junk. Did you get it as a gift or did it seem like a great idea at the time? Did the infomercial convince you you could not live without it? DISH!

Measuring Cup Swans. I wont say who they are from, but them knowing that I am a professional cook wouldn't they think that I might have metal measuring cups.

Something that looks like a piece of corrugated metal with a handle. It's a slicer of some kind, evidently. I don't remember where I picked it up, but I don't think I've ever used it.

Yes, there was 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup and 1 cup swans. The handles are the necks and heads

Oh, ha ha, I got suckered into buying the stainless steel thing, too, but I bought mine from the place I got my onion sets. I figured it was some wonderful new invention of theirs--and as soon as it arrived I read you could use the back of a spoon!

I would have to say my bloomin' onion maker. The only thing I made was a mess.
I do not know if it is just me but I think that is a male gadget. I couldn't get it down to even cut the onion.

thats kinda what I was imagining. lol The only thing that could make them better is if they were pink and had a bow arround thier necks.

I bought mine at a Pampered Chef party
I actually use it to slice radishes and carrots and cukes for crudite trays

I HAVE those!!! I have no idea where I got them...or from who....but I wonder how accurate they are

Because I get really really bored while my 7-month-old is sleeping I went searching for pointless kitchen gadgets and found this...

At this point, I would say my cookie press I wanted one forever, I was gifted a beautiful one, and even my skilled baker DD1 can only get it to make a mess

However, in the Christmas break I will give it another go.....




DH and I had an fairly ordinary can opener, that finally gave up the ghost while we were away, leaving DS in charge.
He bought us a new one, very nice.
We could NOT get this flippin' thing to work, after several weeks we were pretty well hacking away at cans with DHs penknife.
DH took this opener back to the store, and indignantly demanded a replacement, which they were very nice about giving us, no problem.
This one didn't work either!!!!!!!!

We were on the point of returning THIS one, when DS came along. We shared our woes with him, and he examined the opener and then tried to open a can with it.... with absolutely no problems.
DH and I looked at each other ... we had been attempting, for the past month or so, to open cans by laying the opener along the top, instead of sideways... I can't really explain it, but in a nutshell, we had tried to use it in the same way as the old one.

We have always wondered if we actually BROKE that first replacement opener by trying to hack open cans with it
