We found pork butt roast AND boneless, skinless chicken thighs for 1.25 lb. Bought the Laundry package deal at Winn Dixie - buy Tide 2x and get free shout, downey liquid and dryer sheets both, bleach and a sample of Purex 3 in 1 sheets. They had a special to buy bacon and get free eggs and at the store with the meat sale, there was a coupon for free bread. My honeybunch is starting a job tomorrow after almost a year of unemployment - kinda feels like we hit the lottery

While shopping at our local BJ's last week, I found perdue chicken thighs as well as drumsticks for 49 cents per pound! The best thing was that the 10 pound packages are broken down to 4 packs inside! I stocked my freezer and now I just need to find some recipies to use them icon_lol.gif

I found a few good deals over the Easter
    Weekend:
Country Crock Margarine(45 ounce Tub )
    $2.76 - 40 cent coupon,doubled to.80 = $1.96
    (bought 2 )
    Kraft Mayo 2 for $5.00( 30 ounce jar)-$1.00 off
    coupon on 2 =$4.00 saved .50 cents a jar
    2 dozen Large Eggs $1.00 = $2.00
    had a coupon " Buy 2 dozen eggs get a 2-liter
Big Red soft drink free = $1.67 saved
Kraft Shredded Cheese 2 for $3.00 had a coupon
    for $1.00 off of 2 = $1.00 saved
( plus $1.00 off 2 coupon off next purchase on package)
International Delights Southern Butter Pecan coffee creamer $1.88 for 16 ounces -.55 cent coupon = $1.33
Then saw a 32 ounce bottle of International Delights
English Almond Toffee coffee creamer for $3.88
was a $1.00 off use now coupon so it was $2.88
A small Shank Portion Ham, 8.15 lbs. $.9.89-$5.00
    = $4.89
( the store had a special going on. If you
bought any ham Easter week-end or the week-
end before, you received $5.00 off your ham purchase)
That little bad boy is in my freezer has I type. icon_cool.gif
Country Style Boneless Pork Ribs,2 pkgs.
one was $4.01 reduced to $2.01
the other $3.96 reduced to $1.96
Maple Flavored pork sausage 14 links was $2.99
    reduced to $1.49
But what I think is my biggest bargain of the week-end
    is a non-food deal,
Walgreen's had Nivea Body Wash 16.5 ounce bottles on sale.
They are normally $5.86 each on sale for $3.79
had coupons for $3.00 off of each,so I bought two
bottles of very exspensive body wash for
    $1.80.

    Congrats on hubby's new job.
Morning my DD is a fanatic about Winn Dixie. She just called to let me know her bill was 626.00 but witht he freebies and her coupns it was 232.00. She said WD beats even the box store prices because they have such great deals and the Meal Deals are fabulous! I wish we had a WD here in NY.

Connie thanks for the job congratulations! I love when we can find great deals at W/D. It used to be the only place I shopped until Save A Lot and Aldis's were built near me. There are some stores here that my friends shop that I can't even afford to breath their air icon_eek.gif And if I can get it at the farmers market and put it up, all the better. My honey-bunches cousin thinks I'm crazy that I would go through the trouble of putting up corn last weekend when she just went and bought her corn for .50 a can. l went to the outdoor farmers market with my sweetie and had a great day, we shucked, cleaned and cut corn together while we talked and laughed, ate fresh corn for Easter dinner and the next night. I stayed up and canned 53 pints of corn out of love for my family while he slept. He went to work out of love for us the next day while I slept. I figure we got more for our .35 a pint than she got out of her lonely trip to the grocery store!

My DD and now DS go the the farmers market and also the meat market to get good deals. 40lbs of chicken for $20.00 and then to the produce stand and she wheels and deals with the guy. Now he waits for her to get there at the end of the day or first thing in the am and she takes day old or end of day produce. Thursday she bought 6 large green peppers, melon, carrots, watermelon, onions, and something else I forget for $11.00. I almost fell out of my chair LOL. She is good. She does use Aldi rarely My DS will go there more often. The new one on MLK is better than the first one opened a few months before but still nothing like we hav here in Upstate NY. DD says when WD has a sale on canned she buys at least 100 cans to put in pantry and only if she has coupons to go with them. LOL

I agree with you about the shucking, boiling, and doing as a family. DH and I do the same here only we freeze the corn and all other veggies we grow or I get a good deal on. It just feels better and then when the holidays come and fresh is on the table it tastes so much better!!

You are about an 45 min-hour from my DD. You live in beautiful area there.

DD lives just outside of Brando and loves the country atmosphere.
I told Dh I would like to buy in the Holiday area or Tarpon Springs area. Close enough to kids but far enough to give all privacy. DS bought house 1 block from DD and now they want us to buy the neighbors that is for sale. DD said we can rent it out until DH retires then live near them too. YIKES! icon_eek.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

    Perhaps we shall see.

Have a great day and have fun shopping for those great deals!

Connie, aren't you lucky that your kids want you so close icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif After you get over the shock of them being able to invade your privacy at any given moment like when they were little you might enjoy it icon_wink.gif Tarpon Springs area is nice, they don't let you dive for sponge there any longer though. I don't know Holiday area... is it in the same vicinity?

We do live in a pretty part of the state... little rolling hills (sort of lol) and beautiful horse farms. When we aren't in the middle of a drought it is so luscious and alive! Seems we are always on the look out for wildfire alerts these days.

We went to the market this past weekend but didn't see anything that stood out. Suits me to tell you the truth as I have greens and cabbage to deal with as soon as I take my lazy self outside and pick it. My thermometer said it was 101.5 today and it just didn't seem like the day to do it! Sure gonna hate the dog days this year...

I think I need some lessons from your daughter on market skills... sounds like she is a master lol. Your son sounds like he learned well also. Good job mom!

Yay me, I'm a happy girl! I was just bemoaning - okay, actually just whining, the fact that we can't ever seem to catch any kind of beef on sale around here and today I found 80/20 ground beef for 1.75 lb. icon_biggrin.gif That's me smiling big! We have 14 one pound packages frozen and 42 lbs all cooked ready for canning tomorrow. Very happy girl. Not too shabby for a trip just for those .99 eggs.

Thanks! It was at the Save A Lot near my house. One of the in store specials. I'm usually not to crazy about meat in "chubs" but it was 80/20 and a good price. It was beautiful... pink all the way through unlike some chubs I have gotten in the past. Being there is only 2 of us, I think we are set on ground beef for the year, and probably turkey but chicken and pork seems to be an ongoing thing here lol.

Thanks I will let Penny know about the ground beef at Save A Lot. We sometimes have those specials here but the drive for me is way too far. If I am off to the docs and pass close I stop in, otherwise Aldi's and Priceright. Pricelright does not do advertisements to keep costs low but they do have asome great specials! You just do not know unless you go in.

I am new to this website. We have no Save A Lot or Winn Dixie. We used to have a second home in Memphis - miss the weather. Our permanent home is Minnesota - still a little chilly. I hope everyone weathered out the storms and are doing well.

Hey Ped6 welcome...I think both Winn Dixie and Save A Lot are regional. When I first went to Michigan many years ago and went into the grocery store, I couldn't find anything that I knew what to do with. I asked the store manager where the grits, collards, white acre peas, fat back etc were. That might have been the first time in my life that I knew what the look of befuddlement was...and I went home and cried. I thought we were going to starve to death cause they didn't have real groceries up north icon_redface.gif
I sure could have used a site like this to teach me back then! Hope you enjoy it here, the people are awesome.
