    Last week, or may-be before,
there were a few threads about Christmas,
    gifts to make,
    food to make,
And there were a few ideas that I planned to use.
and I thought I saved them.
    Well, icon_mad.gif I didn't!!

    did anyone else?
If you did, can you post a link?
    Please.
    BB

Of course, if you have a secret site that hasn't been posted,
    or a great idea,
or you just feel like saying hi!
    post it here too! icon_lol.gif

I don't have any great ideas, but I did do something this year that's kind of fun. I bought a small, gaudy green and red tin tree at Hobby Lobby.

Then, I bought two "corsages" made up of the red Xmas balls and berries and little droplets of red shiny tin rings. I took the corsages apart and stuck all these balls and berries into the tree and made a topknot. It's the kitchiest tree ever, and looks great on the counter between the kitchen and family room.

Here is an idea if you are giving recipes. I got some plain 4 by 6 index cards and used Printmaster to do designs and lettering on them to make categories. Then I went through and found several recipes and put them on 3*5 cards.
THe fish and game card has a fish and a deer on it. You get the idea.

I don't have anything constructive to add to your thread, but thought I'd add my 2cents to say "hi" & mention that we head down to Victoria for our annual "Pre Christmas shopping trip"

We don't actually exchange gifts, but it's our little treat, I look forward to it all year. Curry at the Bengal Lounge, wandering around downtown, Lyle's, Applewood Antiques, Kay's Korner... oh can't wait! icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

    hi to you!
hmmmmm, curry at the Bengal lounge, to die for. I haven't been for ages, but it's going back on the list. Did you hear about the person who is agitating for the Lounge to take down the tiger skin? I wonder what purpose that would serve, the poor tiger's been dead for 50 years. I guess it should just be thrown in the garbage???!!! icon_rolleyes.gif
What is Kay's korner, inquiring minds need to know.

thanks for the links, Morti and CallmeCrazy!
Lots of good stuff in there, I'll have to study it
    and pick and choose.

And the Christmas tree idea is a hoot, Stella,
post a photo when you are done, I bet it will be cool.

And, the recipe cards, another good idea. I should do
a bunch for my Mum, the tried and true all written
up nicely and in a box. We might have a winner here!

    thanks everyone,

Yes I did see that letter in the TC, I thought the same thing, what do we do with it now???? I would never want it to be done now, but it's there, it's been there since the 1920's, if you don't like it, don't go there. Oh sorry... you pushed that button didn't you???? icon_eek.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Kay's Korner is a cute little shop in Cook St Village, vintage mainly, I don't find many antiques, but every once in a while I find something nice for the house, last time I got a beautiful copper pan for $20.
Karen & her mom own it, they are very nice, you should pop in there if you're in that area. icon_biggrin.gif

    Hello!

My Mom and I were walking around a garden center yesterday and everything was so expensive! Mom was saying she saw a cute idea for me to do with the kids... you buy a cheap fake wreath. Attach pine cones, christmas balls, anything you want. Then you spray it with that spray paint which comes out like "snow". Then you go out and pick some red berries and attach them so they pop.

I thought it sounded fun for the kids to do. We're going to try it next weekend.

I'm always "stealing" ideas wherever I am-especially at the
    overpriced craft fairs.

Be sure to check out the craft thread I started in Craft Forum. I posted a good selection of easy, inexpensive craft projects!

    :thumbs up:
