Mushroom and Herb Rolls and boy, were they tasty treats! These mushroom flavored rolls with the garlic and herbs cream cheese tastes so good, I could taste everything in it. They also tastes just like the ones we buy in the bakery.
The directions look long but they're actually easy as you just mix ingredients except the dough and just spread it on the prepared dough and bake.
You might want to try this! I'll be here today if ever you need me
First, prepare your ingredients:
SERVES 4
Ingredients
* 1 tablespoon shallot, minced or green onion, minced white part only
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1/4 lb mushroom, finely chopped
* 1 teaspoon lemon juice
* 1 teaspoon dried herbs, any combination of dill, basil, tarragon, oregano
* 1 (3 1/2 ounce) package cream cheese (garlic and herb)
* 1/2 (17 1/4 ounce) package frozen puff pastry
* 1 egg (for egg wash, mix with 1 tablespoon water)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
2. In large skillet, sauté shallot or onion in butter until soft, about 5 minutes.
3. Add mushrooms and lemon juice to skillet and cook until mushrooms are soft and juices have absorbed.
4. Add herbs, mix well and set aside to cool.
5. Add cream cheese to cooled mushrooms and mix well. Adjust seasonings to taste. (Demo note: 3 1/2 oz seems like half a package to some).
6. Roll out puff pastry to 10x12-inch rectangle.
7. Spread filling over pastry.
8. Cut pastry into fifteen 2x4-inch rectangles.
9. Roll up each rectangle and brush with egg wash.
10. Place seam side down on ungreased baking sheet.
11. Bake until golden, about 15 minutes.
12. Voila! Serve immediately.
