I would like to make my own vanilla extract with the real vanilla beans. I would also like to give some of this as gifts for the holidays. I know i found a site that sold small dark colored bottles, perfect for vanilla extract. Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark that site, and now I can't find it. Does anyone know of someplace I could get some small bottles to package my vanilla extract in? Thanks for your help!

That is exactly the site!! I knew I saw it someplace on here, but couldn't find it again! What a great site! I am thinking of making hot chocolate too, and giving it as gifts. They have some nice containers that would work for that too. Thank you so much, Tish! icon_biggrin.gif

Stick vanilla beans in alcohol and wait. icon_smile.gif There's 10 recipes here for it, using different amounts and whatnot. My cousin made some for Christmas presents last year and used bourbon - nummy!

I got my vanilla beans from E-bay, I think it was $12 for 1/2 pound Tahitian vanilla beans. I will try another kind next time and mix them when making vanilla. I have some infusing now and was wondering what I was going to package them in! I was saving my old small vanilla bottles, but while I was away visiting my sister, my family kindly threw them out(they were trying to clean up for me). So now I will check out this site. I have put up a recipe for making vanilla:

OMG, you've reminded me! I made some probably three years ago, then promptly forgot where I put the bottle. I think I know where it is, it has never been opened. I'll bet it's done by now. icon_lol.gif
