~There are several threads to watch during PAC.
The
PAC Main Thread is where all of the action is. All adoption requests, recipe tags, & notices when you post your reviews will be handled in the Main thread. It is also our "chat" corner. Do plan to play with us there and post often. It is a wonderful chance to get to know zaar members and make some friends.

The
PAC Adoption Center is designed to make it easier to see the status of chefs during PAC. It has the lists of choices for chefs (the Pick Me Lists) and the list of all chefs already adopted. It will also be the home of the Preemie Care Center when it opens on 4/2 from 12noon-2pm Eastern. There is no posting in the Adoption Center thread.
New this year will be the
PAC Stampede. We will be going with a new format this round in an effort to speed up the adoption approval/ rejection process. Instead of having to dig thru pages of posts to confirm your adoption check this thread. The list will be broken by pg #'s, so if you posted on pg 3 your request will be in that group. This thread will only be in use
opening weekend. There should be no posts except by hosts.
On opening weekend please plan to be patient!
So what is Pick A Chef?
If you are new to the the event you may be wondering what all of the fuss is about. Basically Pick A Chef is a chance to discover new chefs and “get to know” other chefs on Zaar. By adopting a chef, you are agreeing to make & review at least 3 of his or her recipes by
May 4th. You make the recipes & submit your reviews any time before the deadline. There are a few rules on how the selections work, but PAC is very easy to play. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have here or zmail any PAC host. We will be more than happy to help you.
How to Play:
1) Sign up in this thread. Determine which of the categories you fit into:
Newbies: joined after August 1st 2007, numbers of reviews on their posted recipes do not matter.
Undiscovered Chefs: joined before August 2007 and have 25 or fewer reviews on
their recipes
All newbie & undiscovered chefs who sign up in this thread are automatically listed in the Adoption Center on opening day of PAC. Seasoned Chefs: joined before August 2007 and have 26 or more reviews on their posted recipes.
Seasoned chefs will be added to the adoption list after adopting a newbie or undiscovered chef.
Preemies: have 3 or fewer recipes posted, join date does not matter. These chefs will be part of the Preemie Care Center opening on 4/1.
Newbies & UC's do
not have to adopt anyone else in return (but you may). If you do choose to adopt a chef, you can choose
anyone from either list in the Adoption Center who hasn't already been adopted. There is no limit to how many chefs anyone may adopt, but each chef's name will only be added to the list once
Any
"Seasoned Chef" who adopts a Newbie will automatically be added to the second "pick me" list. Seasoned Chefs, please pick from the Newbie/Undiscovered Chef list only first. If you would like to adopt an additional chef, you may do so from either list. There is no limit to how many chefs anyone may adopt, but each chef's name will only be added to the list once.
What we need from you: (in this order)
*your chef name
*your chef number (without the word chef)
* number of your posted recipes
*the category of chef you fall into for this game

3) After your adoption is approved, please come back and post the three recipes you plan to make in this thread. Copying the word recipe and the recipe # creates an automatic link to the recipe. Please add the recipe number again without the # to make it easier for us to copy/ paste the info to the lists below. (Hidden links are pretty, but they require us to open each post.)

Pick A Chef FAQ
I already have a chef in mind, but his/her name isn't on the list. Can I pick a chef who isn't on the "pick me" list yet? How?
Yes, but please use the same guidelines (Newbies & Undiscovered Chefs may pick anyone, Seasoned Chefs please pick a Newbie/UC first). A great way to "find" more Newbies & UCs is to check out the top 40 newest members list on the home page and also in the ABC chefs directory or visit the Newbies forum. Paging through today’s recipes and reviews should also give you some chefs to select from.
Only seasoned chefs who adopted a newbie/ undiscovered chef are eligible for adoption.
How long do I have to sign up?
You may sign up and/or "pick" a chef anytime from now through the review deadline (May 4th). Once you have selected a chef (and yes, you may select more than 1), you prepare their recipes any time before the end of the event, at your convenience.
Are there any restrictions on the recipes I choose?
You may choose either recipes with or without reviews, as long as you were not the previous reviewer. Just remember to have your reviews submitted by the last day of the event (May 4th). You may submit your reviews early, if your prefer.
How many chefs can I adopt?
You can adopt as many chefs as you can honestly prepare three recipes each for before the deadline. Some PAC players adopt one, some adopt many. It is entirely up to you and your schedule. All reviews are due by the deadline.
How will I know my tag is valid?
Once you see it on page 1 of this thread or you are acknowledged in the thread the tag is valid. On opening weekend ONLY we will have the Stampede thread running for approvals. We try to keep the Adoption Center as up to date as possible, but we do have to sleep sometime. LOL You may have to scroll back a few pages, but only as far as the last post that states page 1 is current. Things do move quickly on opening weekend.
