Barefoot Contessa - Ina Garten

In 1978 Ina Garten began her career in the White House working on nuclear energy policy when she realized there had to be more out there for her. Seeing an ad for a small food store that was for sale in East Hampton she went to investigate along with her husband Jeffrey. They made the store owner an offer and two months later the Barefoot Contessa specialty food store was born. 20 years later the shop employed 20 cooks and bakers along with 25 employees that helped customers select breads, salads, dinners, and baked goods. In 2001 Ina sold the shop to her employees but continues her association to the store in many ways.

After writing four cookbooks Ina's Barefoot Contessa became a tv series on FoodNetwork. She has also worked as a columnist for Martha Stewart Living Magazine along with her food and entertaining being featured in Oprah Winfrey's magazine O.

Hello Lauralie, lovely story about Ina Garten, a lady with style! I received a gift of the Outrageous Brownie Mix - and we loved it! It tastes almost like homemade! Her recipes are simple with a flair, her table settings lovely and the flowers exquisite! I really think she's great, can't you tell?

Yep, sure can tell you think she is great! I was looking at her mixes when I put this together and there are so many I would love to try. The lemon curd, yum!!

I have made a similar fruit tart and it is outrageously good!

I treated myself to the 'barefoot contessa at home' cookbook and cannot wait to dive into it!

What wonderful gifts you gave to your daughter and to yourself, I started trying them with her popover mix and they are so easy to make but I wanted to see if hers tasted different - they really don't!

Macaroni and Cheese from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) - the ultimate M&C!
Mashed Potato & Gravy - Barefoot Contessa - the most delicious gravy I've ever had!
Spinach Gratin - so rich & delicious!
& Barefoot Contessa Raspberry Cheesecake - so easy to make & simply outstanding!!!

Ina is the best I Tivo her show. I have tried several of her recipes and they are all wonderful. I watch food network all the time and I am quite burned out on some of the shows, I don't even watch them anymore (Emeril, Paula, Rachael) But Ina I could watch everyday. Misty
